Lost all motivation

For the last year or so I feel like I’ve completely lost my motivation in life. When I graduated high school a year and a half ago I had it all figured out and was loving life. Then about 3 months later I split from my girlfriend and ever since then I feel like I’ve lost my drive. I can force myself to go to uni, study, go out with friends and all that stuff but it all feels pointless. I don’t feel depressed that often but I just feel like I’m going through the motions and there’s no end in sight. I was wondering if anyone had gone through anything similar and could give me some advice about how I can find some new goals and motivation in life. Thanks

Hi TDriver97 and welcome to the forums

Unfortunately lacking motivation is a possible sign of depression. I am not doctor so I can't speak specifically to you and your situation, however just reading some of the signs and symptoms from the Beyond Blue Website it is a common sign that something isn't quite right. Well it was a sign for me anyways.

I couldn't get motivation by sheer willpower. I needed help and support. I went to a youth mental health service called Headspace. I found it really beneficial for myself. I think it is something you should look into. https://headspace.org.au/ for more info

I think coming to the forums true strength and bravery. I was someone who read other forum posters for a while as I it took me a while to pluck up the courage. It shows you want to get your motivation back and feel better again.

I hope this was helpful. If you have any questions feel free to ask 🙂
