Hello erj, when we are struck down by any mental illness it takes away any motivation, our strength disappears as well as any inclination, so what we were once able to do is now impossible.

We shouldn't blame ourselves because we may not know why all of a sudden this has just happened as there could be many reasons why, some we might know and some we have no idea but you won't be able to establish any of this by yourself, you will need the from a psychologist.

Ask them if they can offer a plan of what you can do outside of the sessions when you're alone that may help you discover new tactics that will slowly build up your confidence.

Some may work while others may not, but write them down so you can produce them while in a session so some alternatives may be suggested.

We need to try and experience what helps us to recover.

Best wishes.

Geoff.
