Hi guys, I am Francesco.
I have recently become a member here. I am very interested in what this has to offer myself and everyone here. I have been battling anxiety for quite along time but after some years of counselling it has become a bit more manageable however I still have my bad days. I have had a lot of social issues which I am trying to work through and at the moment I am searching for the meaning in my life.
Here is a little something about myself. I am currently studying Psychology (Honours) and wish to become a counselling psychologist. My aim in life to work to help others and allow others to see the uniqueness in themselves. I am a music and TV show fanatic and I welcome any fun discussions on the topics, haha!
I am so amazed at the work that goes on in this organisation and am so happy that i decided to become a part of it.
Most of all, I am here to help.
Thank you!
Francesco.

Hi Francesco!
I am also new to the forum discussions. It is good to hear that you are managing better with your anxiety. There will always be good and bad days, but hopefully you are able to have more good days. You sound like you are very motivated to work on your issues and to grow as a person. That is always a good thing!
Good luck in your studies! As a uni student myself, I know that uni study can be very challenging and stressful, but ultimately rewarding as well. You sound like you will be using the personal experiences that you have had with anxiety and social issues to be able to forge a career where you will be helping others in the same position. That is a commendable goal.
I have also battled anxiety and depression in the past and after counselling and my own determination through building up my resilience and skill levels, I am now also able to manage on the most part, my anxiety and depression. I haven't felt like my personal issues are unmanageable or uncontrollable anymore. However, I do have massive family problems and they are challenging for me.
Welcome and thank you!
V

Hi V,
Welcome also! Thank you for that confidence boost!
Thank you for that! I hope I can make a difference. May I ask what Uni degree you are undertaking?
That progress that you have made is incredible, you should be very proud of yourself for that!! Thats difinitely an accomplishment. Well If you ever feel like talking about those family difficulties here is the right place! 🙂
Thank you for the warm welcome! 🙂

dear Francesco, hello and thank you for joining the site.
I am thinking that you are a male and please correct me if I'm wrong.
Can I just say that this organisation has increased it's coverage in heaps and bounds over the last few years, and has definitely been such a help to so many people struggling with some form of depression, where they can talk to people who have endured or still am trying to cope with their own problems.
It's also where no one criticises any comment, because it won't be accepted by the Moderators and secondly because it would only deepen a person's depression far more than they would ever expect, and that's certainly not what any of us want.
You are doing honours in psychology which is terrific, so I wish you the very best, but what I say is that if someone has gone through any type of depression and then wants to become a professional counsellor then this is very good, and I only say this because they actually know what being in depression feels like, which then makes them have a better understanding of the patient they are counselling.
My first question to any psychologist or psychiatrist is 'have you been depressed yourself', and if they say no, then I get up and walk out, because a text book can teach them, but there are so many different idiosyncrasies which do happen and these aren't talked about in the text book, and how could they.
It's no different if you are building a house which you have learnt from a text book but what if you dig and hit a gas pipe, what would the text book tell you, sorry just a silly analogue.
I'm sure your participation on the site will be well received and thanks again for joining. Geoff.

Hi Geoff!!
Yes, I am a Male.
This organisation definitely goes above and beyond, that's for sure! That is all very true, I sense such a safe and accepting environment here.
Thank you, that is definitely true about having that previous experience.
Yeah experience I feel is needed that is why now most psychologists undergo their own counselling to become self aware and to experience the other side of it.
I really enjoyed this warm welcome, thank you!
