Hi everyone, I just joined and wanted to say hello!

I'm Cherry, I'm 17 and I love k-pop, Japanese movies, learning languages, playing piano, cute things, gothic horror, cats and chai lattes. Would love to make some new friends (:

I'm currently struggling with generalised anxiety, social phobia as an offshoot of that, melancholic depression and body dysmorphic disorder. And these things decided to come forward at the end of last year, just before year 12. So convenient 😕 I'm seeing a psychologist and a psychiatrist, my parents are supportive and even though my friends don't really understand, I have a couple who are being lovely to me.
I'm so grateful for those things, but it's still hard, so I'm hoping to meet people who are going through the same kind of things, and hopefully give and receive some help on here :3

I know I can get through this, and I know every single one of you can overcome and be bigger than whatever you're going through, too. Even if it's hard, we can all do this 😄 x

Hi there ThousandMiles, looks like you joined only a few days after me. I decided to look through your introduction and you said you enjoy Japanese movies and your picture I believe is Taiga from the anime "Toradora", I'm a fan of it myself!

I love the stories I find in anime, I bet you are like me and watch anime because the stories and characters make you happy as you are watching it. Unfortunately anime doesn't cure us forever, but hopefully you pull through with the support you have. 🙂

Hey there OneThousandSixHundredAndNinePointThreeKilometres (see what I did there, this slightly older than middle aged gent can hip hop, bee bop and yo yo with cocoa with the best of the youngesters!)

Whoa ... I feel dizzy now!  😉

But back to being serious ... how are you finding school so far this year?   Is everything going "ok" ... and I hope that this is where your good friends are able to provide you lots of good support??

And along with what Geoff said, how are you finding the two psych's that you're seeing?

Have you also heard of or looked into the wonderful organisation that is designed for younger folk - "HeadSpace".  It might be worth going and having a browse to see what options they might have that may be suitable for you to have a go at or at least provide some different kind of hints, tips or advice.

Kind regards

Neil

Thanks for more replies 😄

Geoff, I love the dog in your picture, he/she's so cute! What's his/her name? 🙂
And hey, don't worry about things that's in the past, just focus on how you can use your developed knowledge and skills to enjoy your life now 😄
And yeah, both of them help me in different ways, which is great.
Thanks so much for your kind words, nice meeting you 🙂 x

Triforceofcourage, glad to meet somebody else who loves Toradora! 😄 And yeah, I get what you mean. I haven't watched a series in a long time, but movies like the Ghibli ones definitely transport me to a nicer place for a little while :3 What's your favourite anime movie + anime series?

Hey again Neil 🙂 Haha, not surprised you're dizzy 😛
Hm, in all honesty, things could be better, but I do have some supportive teachers, and 3 good friends who I can tell anything to. And by being open about my conditions, I have encouraged 2 people to open up and get help about theirs, so that's good I think 😄
I'm finding them great, thanks for asking. I just wish I could see them more often!
I haven't heard of them, no, I'll check them out. Thanks for the idea!

Out of the Ghibli movies, my favourites would have to be Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service and Whisper of the Heart. My favourite anime series in general are One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist, Death Note, Steins Gate, Angel Beats, and of course Toradora along with a bunch of others.

I recommend an anime called "Usagi Drop", it's about a father adopting a child and raising her, it's the series that always makes me smile when I'm down.
