Confused about some symptoms...anyone know?

Hey everyone, hope you're all coping. To those reading; thank you dearly.
I just had a quick question about a feeling I keep getting. Is chest pressure an anxiety feeling? I keep feeling somewhat shot of breath and as if somethings lightly pressing on my chest; sometimes worse than other times, and on my diaphragm too. I've been told it's a symptom of anxiety, which I do have, but it's only come about in the last few months. I figured it's safest to check. The bit that confuses me is that it comes out of no where, and when I'm not feeling anxious. However then I DO feel slightly worried because of the feeling, and I overthink what's happening to me (I immediately think the worst; heart problems etc, even though I'm sure it's not). I just really want some light shed on this! I don't know what to think of it, does anyone else feel this? Does anyone know what ways of dealing with this are? Thanks so much guys!

Bia_blue what you are describing sounds like anxiety I get that feeling all the time out of no where for no reason sometime wake up with it.

I was checked at docs for a full health check to rule out any other reason for the feeling have you seen gp I suggest you do.

Your not alone in what you have described

Dear Bia_Blue

The feelings you describe do describe a generalised feeling of anxiety (subject to a health check of course) and the tightness in the chest/abdominal region are classic symptoms. The physical symptoms are scary...(if anxiety related of course) and they are. I have had the same symptoms on and off for 33 years.....The feelings still come and go but yours remind me of my early symptoms...I am sorry this is not much help to you at present....but your words are very familiar

Kind Thoughts

AS ci suggested see your GP to rule out any physical reasons for whats happening. If its anxiety talk to your GP about the possibility of trying some anti depressants as some are very useful in alleviating the symptoms of anxiety.                                                                                                                                                                                              It would be useful to examine closely what has happened in the last few months to see if you can determine what factors may be contributing to your experience of anxiety. While the symptoms appear to come from nowhere while you are not aware of feeling anxious the source of the experience exists within you, just as physical pain is a sign that all is not well with your body, these symptoms suggest that there is something which needs to be addressed within your life.                                                                                                                                   Regards Philip.

Sorry everyone to butt in on your thread here, but I just noticed that BKYTH is back.  Hi there Philip.  Its been over a month since I last saw you here. I hope you are settled somewhere and okay?  I've often wondered how you were doing.  Its nice to see you back again.

And back on topic .............

Bia_blue - yes what you are describing is certainly consistent with Anxiety.  I experience similar symptoms, and it has been confirmed as anxiety.  I recommend you learn some breathing techniques to help aleviate the symptoms.
