seeking help to save a life!

Hi I am a mum with Indian background seeking help for my 24 years old nephew who lives in India. I want to join this community as a supporting person for my family back in India. This person is very close to me like my own son and his condition is affecting me mentally. I would really appreciate if I can get some help to save a young life.

Hi Aditya,

Welcome to the Beyond Blue forum. I hope you find some support here to help you with your son.

Supporting family through their mental health conditions is really important. It can make a big difference to their health and well being.

However, it is also important to look after yourself, too. It can be physically and emotionally draining and you mention that it is already affecting your mental health.

Beyond Blue has some great resources to help you provide support and to ensure you look after yourself while doing it. https://www.beyondblue.org.au/the-facts/supporting-someone

Also feel free to post in one of the specific forums if you need help with advice or support on a certain topic (i.e. depression / anxiety).

Kind thoughts, Jess

Hi and welcome to beyond blue. You sound like a very caring and supportive person to look after this person. Jess has provided a link to a bunch off pages containing useful information. I am unsure of attitudes towards mental health in India, but I hope you are able to continue to help him on this journey and he might be able see better days. The simple act of listening and showing goes a long way in helping another feel not so isolated.

Hi aditya

It seems like you have gotten some great responses, dialogue from people already- has any of it resonated with you? I just thought I'd check-in and see if there was any way we could help you in your journey of providing support. We can be a listening ear, help you make the most of this community, and help you navigate your own self-care and mental health journey as you provide support to someone. Let us know, we are to listen.

Sending kindness,
