Hello all,
first post for me! A bit disjointed at 2am!
I have suffered from varying bouts of depression for the past 16 years.
I am finding myself now to be going through the motions of working and being a Mum and wife but when the weekend rolls around I hit the wall. I get done just what I need to do and then I go to sleep. I’m totally exhausted and even after a few hours doing shopping etc I just want to collapse. My house is suffering as I don’t have the motivation to clean any more.
My husband is as supportive as he can be but thinks if I just get out and do things I will feel better. When I feel like this I don’t want to leave home.
I sleep, I cry, I look after my son (teenager) and sleep some more. My husband works most weekends which doesn’t help.
I am on medication but not currently seeing a psychologist. I would appreciate any suggestions.... thanks, WB

Thanks for your welcome Doolhof,
my first appointment was positive and I feel comfortable with this new psych. I did write all the information down, thanks Geoff for that idea. I think she was quite surprised that I had done that and it wasn’t as gruelling and time consuming for me to bring it all up again as I had summarised it.
I like the idea of dancing too, so might give that a whirl too. Doing nice things for myself is always a struggle but I will give that a try too.
I hope you are all doing ok today?
Thanjs again, WB

Hi MonkeyMagic, I am feeling better. I think it is because I have made the first steps towards helping myself. I am also working on the physical as well which will take time but help everything in the long run.
How are you doing?

Hey WinnieB,
Good for you for 'doing something' to help yourself feel better.
You are in good hands here on BB, a lot of the folks you've already met are real pros at offering useful "tips and tricks" for getting you 'steering the car' again rather than the car steering you. If you know what I mean.
OMwards!

It can be overwhelming when you are working and taking care of a family. My psychologist suggested I have help with the housework, even if it is only once a fortnight. Having regular massages also helps to relieve all the tension in your body and is very calming - you can claim on your health fund. Talk to your husband about getting this help - happy wife happy life - that's what my husband discovered.

Hi Winnie,
Im doing ok, prob should do more self care as I work n study which can be stressful. Looking after the physical is important, I just bought a road bike and plan on riding it a lot.
They say it all starts with the first step so you're heading there lovely.
Keep up the good work.

Hey WinnieB,
You're on the right track, keep going.
A thought, I have found using a Cranial Electro Stimulation device [a brain tuner you hook on your ears], helps me relieve the feelings of panic I sometimes get.
Come to the Cafe and have coffee with us, there's usually some nonsense or silliness going on 🙂
