Hi Pooky here
First time post, feeling very anxious at the moment and can't seem to snap out of it. It all started after changing my job a month ago. I have suffered from anxiety before but not this bad for a very long time. I have since quit the new job and gone back to the old one and thought that would sort me all out but no such luck. Feeling very scared that this is not going to go away and is going to effect my old job and family.
Any advise would be more than welcome.

pooky welcome to the forum.
This is a friendly caring and supportive community.
Anxiety is very difficut to cope with and can no time snap out of it.
On the web site there are many articles on anxiety and many threads.
Thanks for your first post

Hello Pooky
Welcome and good on you for having the courage to post with us too!
I understand you as I used to have anxiety for a while which is nearly non existent now. Sometimes we can overthink when we have anxiety and its a scary place to be in Pooky
The Good News! The anxiety feelings are temporary and do reduce over time especially with the help of your GP. (they have better training now where anxiety is concerned) Depending on the severity of your anxiety it can sometimes take a long time for recovery to happen. I do know that the earlier anxiety is treated the better our recovery will be (thumbs up)
Can I ask if the anxiety has been severe enough to prevent you from working/functioning on a day to day basis?
No matter the severity of your anxiety you are not alone with these awful anxiety symptoms. I really hope you can post back when its convenient for you Pooky
There are many super gentle people on the forums that also have the same anxiety that can be here for you
you are not alone Pooky
my kind thoughts

Hi Paul
Thank you for your support and kind words. I have had a couple of days off work but hope to go back in a few days. I know deep down these feelings will go away but just struggling in the mean time.
Its nice to know that I am not alone and there are other people out there going through the same issues I have.
Thank you again
Pooky

Hey Pooky
Thanks heaps for taking the time to post back...Its always great to have a reply 🙂
As Quirky mentioned above we cant 'snap' out of how we are feeling which you know anyway. This is why the forums are here as sometimes we need support to help us out....(and yes...that includes me as well!)
You have written a great thread topic here Pooky. I really hope you can post back with any questions/comments you may have (thumbs up!)
You dont have to struggle on your own Pooky. Its great that you are having some time off which is a bonus to your health. Can I ask how you are feeling?
my kind thoughts always
Paul

Hi Pooky,
I am also new to the forums and whilst I don't have advice as such to offer you, I hope you can connect with others here on the forums who can give you greater support and guidance. It's certainly a great place to turn to when you just want to connect with others who won't judge you or make assumptions.
I empathise with your desire for the anxiety to just go away. I went to a high risk incident as a police officer some ten years ago (I was about 23 at the time) and it has only been over the last two months that it has crept up on me and is now causing me some issues. I wonder daily if things will get better or if will I continue to be pestered by the issues/symptoms I'm now experiencing. If only we had a crystal ball!
All the best on your journey!
