New beginning to think I have depression

Hello, this is my first post and I’m starting to think I have some sort of depression. To me it seems hard to know if it is or not as you read and watch others and they seem to have it worse than me. Which makes me feel guilty to think that I may have depression.
it also make me feel worse that I do t really have anything to complain about , well paid job , house health kids etc .
Having said that there are a few things that I guess got me here. I’ve been divorced for 6 years and after a bitter court battle to sort custody out, I am now settled in 50/50 shared custody, which is good although when the kids are at their mums the house is very empty as I am still single. I’ve had the odd relationship but nothing that has lasted which is something I’m longing for.
my job has also become a lot more pressured, with my work making me more anxious day by day from the pressure. I didn’t think it but maybe having to work from home with COVID has added to that as I’m constantly thinking about work or the people from it that annoy or make me anxious.
I’ll leave it there for now and add some more later

AlexST,
welcome to the forum and well done for starting this thread,
please don’t feel guilty about feeling depression. Depression affects everyone differently.
Would you consider going to see your local doctor..
Covid can add stresses to people’s lives and all the uncertainty and all changes are difficult to deal with.
Fee free to post here as much as possible.

Hey thanks for the reply, I’m not sure I’m ready/want to go to doctor. Never really one to go to the doctors unless completely essential.
yeah COVID has mad this worse but it was there before , I think at least going to office broke the day up

Hi AlexST,
Welcome to the forums. I can see that Quirky has already offered some support so I'll just jump in real quick.
While there is a 'criteria' to get a diagnosis of depression, the criteria isn't about how bad things are or aren't in your life. The 'criteria' is about how your mood is day to day and how that's impacting your life. Some people can be homeless/struggle to put food on the table and their mood might be a-okay, and then you can have people in mansions who are not a-okay.
If you have a look around the forums you can find lots of people with depression who all have different sorts of lifestyles and circumstances. It doesn't really discriminate.
I mostly wanted to share this with you to help you to let go of some of the guilt. Things can be hard enough on you without you being hard on yourself.
