My introduction... Hello

Hi, it was suggested to me to visit here and share my experiences.

Depression combined with Aspergers makes my life difficult.

One day I woke up and found myself inside a mental “facility” and started using “documenting my thoughts” as a coping technique. That escalated to becoming my main avoidance technique.

I showed what I wrote to some people and they suggested I try to publish them. This only added to my stress.

After much time I have finally done that. Now I am trying to get someone to read my “story” to assist in understanding what goes through the mind of a depressed individual. My “book” is a collection of poetry with related commentary. I have been told it is good, but as one of my major “schema” is Negativity/Pessimism, I don’t know if I believe them.

Anyway, I’m here to share a bit of my story...

Birdy,

Thank you for answering my question.

And you gave me a chuckle with the David/Shandy. Xxx

It is funny how you become more attractive to the opposite sex when they think you are gay and have no romantic intentions. And by the time they find out, you have well and truely entered the “friend zone”. (At least that has been my experience.) It is ok to have a 3 as a gay friend, but not as a boy friend.

Hi David (and a wave to beautiful birdy and all),

Thank you so much for your reply 🙂 Lovely birdy responded so beautifully and eloquently that I have very little to add. She also added some highly valid and important insights and comments from her own experience.

I’m so glad birdy (waves) decided to join in here...it was/is a privilege to hear her perspective, and I think it’s so important that we listen to her and hold that space for her to speak up...

I completely agree with you about trying our best to be courteous and respectful when there are different viewpoints. I also agree that it’s not about “winning”, but it’s about hopefully learning from one another. An exchange, if you will...

With that in mind, a big thank you once again for how thoughtful and gracious you have been 🙂 Truly appreciative of you.

Caring thoughts...

Hi Pepper,

Does your arm get sore with all that waving?

and is “Bach” a reference to JS?

and finally, and in no way am I saying that you don’t, but I think it is important to “listen” to those people who don’t/can’t “speak”. Me being one of those people. Because outside of here, I don’t.

David

To throw in something else to think about...

there are groups here specifically for various minority groups to talk to like minded/situation/attribute people, where is mine?

The underunderprivileged, the silent majority, the single white male, the not young, the generic, the not so different, the used to bes... the beige?

not that I think people can (or should) be segregated by one specific “thing”, nor do I think that people think of themselves as “one of the thing crowd”.

It is questions like this (and the explanations associated) that flow through my mind all the time. Enough thinking now... sleepy time.

David.
