Hello Insidegamer, thanks for posting your comment, and I'm sorry for what you have had to cope with, but I can relate to what you're saying.
A psychologist can help you by doing desensitisation, it aims to gradually remove this fear from these situations to make you feel comfortable.
They can also use CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy ) and medication by your doctor may also help.
If you click on 'The Facts' on the above tab there will be information which may interest you.
Hope this helps for starters and can you get back to us.
Geoff.

Hi Insidegamer,
I know social anxiety can be very debilitating, and it can take a lot out of a person. I’m so glad you’re reaching out here...good on you...
I think Geoff has written a very caring and helpful reply, so I have little to add. The only thing that I might mention, in case you’re interested, is there’s a thread here called self help tips for anxiety.
It’s full of suggestions for managing anxiety, granted it’s not specific to social anxiety, but there still might be something there for you...I think it’s a pretty long thread though, so you might just want to skim read just the first and last page.
If you’re interested, no pressure though, I think the easiest way to find it is just to type the whole thread title “self help tips for managing anxiety” in the BeyondBlue search bar.
It’s lovely to talk to you here. Would you like to tell us a little more about how things have been going? It sounds like you have been struggling for some time...
Kind and caring thoughts,
Pepper
