Hi Hayhay,
I hope it’s okay for me to extend a very gentle and warm welcome to you here. Good on your for finding the strength and courage to reach out and write your very first post 🙂
I feel anxiety and depression can be so debilitating so I think it’s very admirable that you’re so determined and ambitious despite your struggles. I commend you for it!
I must admit that I don’t know too much about pre-acceptance for year 10 students like yourself. My gentle suggestions:
- Look up UAC (University Admissions Centre) online for information plus their contact number (i.e. to speak to a staff member directly).
- Contact the uni directly for more information about pre-acceptance and special consideration.
- Speak to the careers advisor at your school.
I hope maybe this gives you some ideas to consider. Good luck and let us know how things go. There’s no pressure but if you feel like it, let us know how things go/update us.
Kind and warm thoughts,
Pepper

Hi. Firstly, I want to echo the excellent response from Pepper to you. I can also see (?) that you feel under pressure to perform, to get into that course you want to do. My son is in his final year at high school. I live in a family of teachers. I also know of a girl who used to live across the road from me that felt the pressures of performance. If you don't mind, I will tell you a little story about myself...
When I was in high school I loved money. Not necessarily getting it, but understanding it. I wanted to do Economics after I finished high school. The problem was that I was not smart enough, or so I thought. My TE score (that is what they called it in the 80s in QLD) was too low. At that point, I felt like I failed. So I went to TAFE and did an Assoc. Dip. in Bus/Comp. I excelled there. After that I was able to get into Uni, and ended up with a Masters of Appl. Sci in Computing. And presently doing a BTh. My parents say I am most qualified in the family now. And when I was in high school I also had to do remedial reading.
My son has a course preference next year at Uni (Sports/Science). As far as course selections are concerned, put down the one you want to do first. The next choice might be a straight science degree. And the third choice is an Arts degree. Once you are "in the system" there are way to get to do what you want to do. This is a statement from the teachers in my family.
So I know it is stressful time of life. The advice I give to my children is "as long as you do your best that is all I can ask". To get into Uni I had to take a detour. I am hopeful your parents are the same.

Do a google search to find the above pages. As you are probably aware, knowing what your triggers help you manage it. My psychologist has also given me other tools, suggested apps to install my phone (only 2) and a 1 book to read. If you have any questions or want to chat, please let me know.
