Hi everyone,
This is my first post. Im not even sure if im using this site properly. I just know that im tired of being alone and feeling helpless. I was scared to join this site or anything other, scared to talk about things on the internet or at all i suppose.
Im anxious. Im struggling. If the slightest thing goes wrong in my day I cant cope. Im trying to get help from a pyschologist, GP. Im reading books. Im meditating or trying to. I frightened there is no solution for me and I cant understand why I cant cope with simple things like leaving the house or going to the supermarket. Things that seem so easy for everyone else. Im worried I'll completely fall apart and take my whole family with me. If I cant care for myself how can I care for anyone else?
I dont know where to start to try to make things better. How can I get better and what if i never do?

Well done Lillyk, you have bravely made a start to make things better.
You have come to the right place. This is a safe network. You are in control of how much or how little you wish to share.
Kudos to you for taking the proactive approach and reaching out for professional help. You are right, there's no need to keep struggling alone when assistance and support are available. These will help you manage the situation.
What you are describing sounds like typical anxiety symptoms. If you scroll down to the bottom of this page, you will find an Anxiety /Depression checklist in the Facts section. It will help you figure what it is you are up against.
Have you checked the Anxiety section of the forums ? Anxiety symptoms are scary and restrictive. Their illogical, unreasonable character makes them even more difficult to cope with. Mental conditions are difficult to understand and come to terms with for those around us too. How is your family responding ?
Please feel free to keep posting, may it be to connect with others in similar situations or just to let steam off. You will be understood and supported when needed. Judgment doesn't come into it. We're all more or less on the same boat or have been there before.
Good to have you on board.

When you feel like you are at the moment, then you are convinced that nothing will help you through this dark tunnel, and even if just a small achievement has been made, won't necessarily change your mind that you are clear from this illness, because you are always doubting why did it happen and it was just by chance it did.
That's OK feeling this way at the present time, but once you can gain some more strength and believe that you can do it, maybe once today, or twice in two days time, then you are slowly building up some confidence.
If something good happens it doesn't necessarily mean that you are in the clear, but as soon as you can take one step forward is what you need, it doesn't matter so much if you then fall back two steps, this only tells you that getting over depression is not like switching a light switch on or off, it means that you are able to move forward, and whether it's just being able to walk around the block now, in contrast where you couldn't leave the house, then that's a huge improvement.
You can never expect that this illness will go away over night, because it won't, it happens bit by bit.
What you need to do is to confront your psychologist and ask them that nothing is happening after all of this time, this will then make him/her to change tactics, and if something is said to you by them and you don't agree, then tell them.
Depression will absorb you, and control you, but this shouldn't happen when you are in a discussion with your psychologist.
Please let us know how you are getting on. Geoff. x

Hi LillyK,
I too want to welcome you to the forum and to the community here. Like Geoff and Starwolf have mentioned, this is a very safe place to share how you are feeling.
I have more panic attacks than anxiety along with depression and a few other mental health issues.
It helps me sometimes to run through my mind how my day is going to be before I get out of bed. I consider where I have to be and what I will be doing. If I have a plan it seems to make it easier for me.
If I know I am having a bad day, I try to make sure I have some extra time up my sleeve and don't leave things until the last minute. That is when I become flustered, that leads to more panic and I suppose some anxiety as well.
Maybe if you write down when you feel anxious and rate the anxiety from 1 to 10 and take that information to the Dr. they will be better able to help and advise you.
I find the more I research and understand a condition, the more I am able to help myself as well.
Hope some of this helps. Cheers for now from Mrs. Dools

I'm feeling so lost. In a matter of a month I have lost my job and my family. Left with debt and it has even been a week and my fiancé has already started dating.
i am at my wits end. The funny this is I truly love this woman.
