Hi,
I just created an account for this site.
I have depression and anxiety, and have always struggled finding someone I can talk to, that will be able to help me improve.
I have 3 kids, two living, and my daughter (6) has been showing signs of anxiety. I am struggling to find out what is happening and how I can help her.

Depression and anxiety are two illness's that are both related, they are hooked at the joint, and one will be there with the other, I never believe that they could ever be separated, some people may say so, but to me, they both happen.
You can't be anxious without feeling some sort of depression, so which ever one attaches itself to you is for a specific reason, but I don't believe you can be anxious without feeling depressed, although anxiety maybe more dominant.
Unfortunately if you are anxious/depressed your children are going to pick up that there is something wrong, which may cause them to have the illness as what you are suffering from.
There is so much that we can tell you from our own experience, but it can't be done in replying to one post, it takes time, which we are more than happy to be here for you, so perhaps you could mention your struggles and tell us about your daughter. Geoff.

Hi Sketch
Welcome and good on you for having the courage to post!
You have landed in the right place. There are many gentle people here that have the same or a similar condition.
I have had chronic anxiety for about 13 years which morphed into depression for the next 21 years so I do understand where you are coming from. Its an awful place to be in when our brain is sending us mixed messages
Can I ask if you have been seeing a GP or counselor? Im sorry to read about your six year old daughter showing signs of anxiety....I have a 25 year old daughter and if she was 6 again and showed any signs I would be at the docs in a flash even just to put my mind at rest.
The forums are judgement free as well Sketch. No one will judge you here 🙂
Great to have you as part of the forum family
my kind thoughts for you
Paul

Thanks Geoff. I understand that these illnesses are linked, and it's not something that can be dealt with in a single post.
I have been dealing with this for about 7 years, and I'm still fighting the good fight.
I came here to see if I could get help, and help others in return.
Thank you for your support

Hi Paul, thank you.
I am so scared for my daughter. I don't want her to end up like me, always struggling, always fighting to be able to have a good day.
There has been so much going on in the 6 years since she was born, it's been a massive roller coaster. Her older brother, my step-son, fortunately is not dealing with anxiety like we are, but has his own concerns as well.
I have seen several counselors, but none have really been helpful long term. The last I spoke with kept talking over me, not letting me tel the story that I needed told. She was also counseling my kids, but we ran out of free sessions and can't afford to pay for more. Having said that, it is something we will find the money for, especially with how my daughter has been recently.
