Good morning all, my first post here. I had been dealing with depression for around a year, until about a month ago everything just got too much. I had to resign from my job as a result. For the past month I have been getting myself better with the help and support from my family. I'm looking at slowly getting back into the workforce working part time hours. My question is, when the time comes for interviews should my depression be discussed?, should I let the interviewer know the reason for me resigning from my last job?. My partner thinks I should be up front and honest then on the other hand discussing it could jeopardize my chance of an offer of employment. Would love to hear anyone's thoughts.
Not too sure if this is the correct thread for this?
Many thanks!

Hi Limerc,
Welcome tot he community here. Mental health issues can be so hard to define and understand for those who are experiencing it and for those who are witnessing it in others.
I'm not really sure if it is appropriate or not to mention mental health issues in an interview.
Is it possible to do any research about a prospective employer to know a little more about their policies and procedures? Especially around health in general.
Maybe an organisation like Fair work Australia can advise you on the best course of action to take.
I am not sure if an interviewee can actually ask a person if they have mental health issues. I don't know what the rules are.
I recently gained employment through a job agency. They declared to the employer that I have mental health issues that I was able to maintain.
Not sure if I have been any help or just confused you further!
All the best from Doolhof
