Hi helper02

Welcome to the forum, we are a caring, compassionate space to help you find general mental health support and like-minded community.

You want to become more emotionally independent- that's a great a bit of self-growth. May we ask, what has to lead you to want to do this? Have you taken any steps so far? This is a place where you can gain insight from people with similar experiences and find solidarity and guidance for your own journey, too. Feel free to use this thread to expand on your story as much as you like- we are here to listen and help.

Sending kindness,

Tay100

Hello help02,

I would like to warmly welcome you to the forums..

I’m very proud of you for reaching out here at Beyond Blue..

We are all hear for you and I’m sorry that your struggling with being happy..

Friends do make us happy because we can feel their love and care for us...and they help us by taking away that loneliness we feel when we’re on our own...

Do you have things that you like to do?

I live alone and it took me years to realise that I can at times be happy on my own doing things I like..

Happiness like other emotions are not felt by us 24/7..It is an emotion like all the rest we have and it’s felt when we do things we like, being with people we Like/love, watching a tv show or movie that you like and makes you happy..

You’ve come to the right place helper02, many people feel the same as you do..you are not alone in feeling this..more people from this lovely community will pop in and chat to you with their insight and caring suggestions...

please keep reaching out here helper..we are hear for you..when you feel up to it please let us know how you’re doing..

My kind and caring thoughts..

Grandy..

Hello @helper02,

Welcome to the forums and thank you for reaching out. You should feel exceptionally proud in yourself in taking what is often the hardest step -- seeking help. If you feel up to it, it would be helpful to know how you came to this decision? Has a recent event made you consider your want for emotional independence?

Please know that these forums are a non-judgemental space where you can feel safe and confident in sharing your experiences. I'm sure many people will also be able to share similar experiences and hopefully share some insights that you may find helpful.

Also, if you would like some help finding some professional mental health support, I recommend that you get in contact with the Beyond Blue Support Service. They are available 24/7 by phone on 1300 22 4636 or on Webchat 3pm-12am AEST on the website www.beyondblue.org.au/getsupport.

Wishing you all the best and sending you positive thoughts!
