Hello there,
I am currently on a six week program to come off an antidepressant after having one psychiatrist double my dose and now a second tell me to come off. I am electing to come off and need to talk to others that may understand. I have done one week and five more feels like an eternity at this point.

Hi, welcome
Yes, you must be feeling all over the place.
I went through similar 20-26 years ago, thats how long I was on the wrong medications or incompatible ones. However, most of that was due to being wrongly diagnosed so I was taking meds that were not suitable for my actual diagnosis. Nevertheless, trying one med then allowing 6 weeks for it to work only to find it made me ill then weaning off it for another 6 weeks, 3 months in all was gruelling.
Then rediagnosed with bipolar, and other issues but not ADHD was the turning point. I tried 3 meds and the third- wow, havent been off that since 2009. Slight tweaking in 2011 by the psychiatrist and that was it. My moods reduced so my mania dropped away remarkably and depression ... well that continued for some years before an extra med brought that into line. I truly recommend persisting with your medical health professional you think is on the pulse with how you feel.
We can approach difficulties like employment, functioning and so on and people around us might not understand about the illness they cannot see. So my advice is to do whatever you need to do in order to get to that few weeks when all will improve and you can return to that new psychiatrist for more treatment. You can do it!
We are here to help and support. If there is anything else just reply and we can see your post come up when we log back on.

Thank you so much for replying so quickly. I am new to all of this. I think my situation got out of hand quickly with me thinking I needed the medication when it was actually a hormonal issue. I am just hoping and praying that my gut instinct is right and that the relevant medication is in place as I transition off the other. This is not a place I thought I would find myself in as I turned 60!
