Cheapest Private Health Insurance with Best Psychology Cover

Aunt Jobiska
Community Member
Hi - I'm looking for the cheapest health insurance that has the best psychology cover, and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts? Looking at Extras, now. I know Bupa Ultimate ($1000 limit) and hbf are good (hbf offers $1400limit, but only maximum of $70 per consultation) but was wondering what others used? Most other cover has limits of $500-600 for psychology.
Thanks for your help.

Hi there Aunt Jobiska,

We cannot offer specific recommendations on companies that provide private health insurance but there are a number of companies that offer a service that compares all insurance products and finds you the best value for what you are searching for, however these companies usually hassle you somewhat and receive a finders fee. Another way to look for comparisons is by using the Australian Government Initiative as I have indicated below:

PrivateHealth.gov.au is an Australian Government initiative, managed by the Private Health Insurance Ombudsman. To allow for easier comparison of health insurance products, all Australian health insurers are required by law to create a Private Health Information Statement for each of their products. This website provides the PHIS for every health insurance policy available from every registered health insurer.

I hope this helps you on your quest to find good coverage,

Nurse Jenn

Hi Nurse Jenn - thanks for trying to help, for your information none of those 'comparison' companies allow you to compare extras based on a specific service, like psychology. I'd already tried! Most don't allow you to search for the cheapest hospital policies based on whether they cover psychiatric services, either.

I understand beyond blue doesn't recommend specific services, and I wasn't asking for a bb recommendation. I was asking for the experience of other members, and it confuses me why that is not allowed. It seems like any service I'd find useful is ... not allowed.
