honestly, the only thing that has kept me from acting on any on my thoughts is the fact that my dog won’t know where i’ve gone and won’t know when i’m coming back, and without him i don’t think i would still be here today

Firstly, let us welcome you to the forums. We are so glad that you found your way to this supportive and welcoming community. Please feel free to express yourself and your concerns openly and without fear of judgement as this is a safe space.
We are pleased to hear that you have such a loving and clearly loved dog and we are sure he would worry. As do we, as it seems you are having some dark and negative thoughts. We hope you feel comfortable sharing more about yourself and how you are feeling.
Until then we just wanted to say, we are always here for you. Please remember if you feel you need to talk through how you are feeling or honestly do just need a chat, please contact Beyond Blue either via phone 1300 22 4636 or through Beyond Blue Online Chat.
Alternatively we would also recommend the suicide call back service, they offer a range of contact methods that can be accessed via Suicide Callback Service or by giving them a call on 1300 659 467.
If at any point those “thoughts” become overwhelming and you believe you may be at risk, or you no longer feel safe we urge you to contact emergency services on 000.
Thank you for trusting our supportive community and sharing your experiences, we hope you find the shared insights and advice of our members helpful.
Warm regards
Sophie M

hello and welcome.
I just want to add my 2c to what Sophie_M has said. Perhaps you can tell me a little more about your dog?
when in the depths of despair it can be really hard to find any reason. I remember being asking my psychologist to think of 5 reasons to live.
there are also apps that you help you (or helped me) - beyond blue has a safety plan app. There is also virtual hope box that i use.
Have you anyone or do you speak with someone about this?
Because you are worth it.
Listening to you.

you're not alone with that one, sometimes the only thing from stopping me hurting myself, is my dogs. Use that bad thought of your dog and not knowing where you are to keep you here.

Hi there. My own strategy is to think of something small that I enjoy - chocolate!!! I look forward to my chocolate-time everyday. It helps me to get through each day but it does not exactly make me into a "happy person". Everyday feels like an endurance-exercise. I just try to keep going without thinking too much into the meaning of life.
