My friends say I'm depressed and I try to deny it, but I'm starting to think they're right, because I think down on myself and have thought about ending it before. They said I should get help, but I don't want my parents to know about this, can somebody please help?

Dear Kaito~

Welcome to the support Forum, you have some sensible friends and I'm glad you came here.

If you are having negative thoughts a lot of the time them you may well have something that needs assistance.

There is a self-test that acts as a rough guide only to show to a GP to indicate if you might have anxiety or depression, I stress it is not black and white, and needs to be analyzed  in company with a professional

I have had a lot of depression and have thought life was without hope - and acted on it. At the time I'd not have believed anyone who said things could be so much better, I would have just dismissed them. However I did not know everything and eventually found wiht the right assistance they were spot on.

It did take telling someone else how I'd been feeling, and that was terribly hard to do, I felt shame, a failure and fear as to what was going to happen. However things got so bad I had to tell someone, and that was the start of my improvment.

If you wanted to ease into this I'd suggest phoning the Kids Help Line (1800 55 1800) (I'd advise not texting them which only has short sessions and very long waits). They are very experienced, sensible and can be a real comfort.

See what they recommend.

If you would like to talk more here you'll always be welcome
