hi everyone
was just wondering what the clues are that it may be time for your own house and what you can do to hang on for as long as it takes until you can buy and not pay as much in rent and not be able to do what you want to place and possibly shift at anytime plus go through the problems people are having.
where am living which am otherwise happy doing at moment the property isn’t really big enough for you to have your own space as in space with bathroom and kitchen and laundry and lounge area and a proper shed.
plus am not only one living there and the freezer for example is full of their stuff and it’s hard to put what you need to put in as well because they put everything in there and you feel like you can’t have the room for what you need and you just want your own.
also am not only one using kitchen as well and you feel like you can’t always have what you want in it
plus don’t have own space to be able to have functions when you want and have people over when you want and the space be yours.
sometimes it seems buying own place could be out of reach or take forever and want to buy so you can do what you want to place and not relocate at anytime or go through rental problems and that’s one reason why it’s taking so long.
other reason is because am on low income/pension and if you had a house there wouldn’t be much if anything left to save and have a quality of life by time you cover your bills.
plus want a better shed as well which is most important but council won’t approve a shed on vacant block without submitting plans to build house.
it feels like you are working as hard as your great grandmothers generation did in the 40s/50s plus it’s only fair to pay your own way and you do right thing and pay own way and wait and you suffer for it.
want to be able to also have a quality of life as well.
most would accept when it may be time and would be happy renting if it’s only option but some are hanging on till they can buy.
am ok ok just needing someone to talk to

Hi, welcome,
An old woman once told me
- "you never get anywhere without hard work" (it was after buying a tattslotto ticket)
- "that only the inherited or the clever end up with their own house"
- "That there is two types or worker- the type that goes home at 5pm and watches TV in a rental house and the type that at the same time of evening is mopping floors in their 2nd job"
So, I'm 66yo and own my own home. How did I succeed? At 4 day after my 27th birthday I joined the AirForce. At 20yo I left but as I did over 3 years (longer now) I had a low interest home loan. I didnt use it till 30yo and it only covered 25% of my house costs but it was a start.
The defence isnt for everyone but it is adult pay, a career of your choice, travel, friends, low cost accommodation and food.
So what would I do now if in your situation? Well at 40yo my marriage split. I purchased an old 3 metre long caravan and lived in that until I could buy block of land and a kit home. Being in regional area it cost less than the city. As a bonus the caravan allowed me independence, holidays elsewhere.
To be a little critical if you read your post again it lists so many thing you want, but that list is too long and not prioritised. Everything you want you have to be prepared to pay for as you mentioned but I cant see how and why the hard life of your grandparents in the 50's would be an easy life now? In fact its is in some ways harder now. In the 70's and 80's I could move from job to job, leave one and start another, now its near impossible to do that, it takes weeks!.
To achieve buying your own home you might need to work 2 or 3 jobs, low spending, strict savings routine and low rental accommodation as I've mentioned. Ex Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser said "life wasnt meant to be easy".
