Hey to anyone reading this.
Last night I had an idea about starting a new thread about exercise especially walking. I am aware that walking is very beneficial for our mental, emotional and physical well being. And by actually doing it....well it can make a huge difference to how we cope with the storms that we face in life.
OK, I am not real good at disciplining myself to walk, and have to really push myself to do it. And sometimes it is even hard to leave this bedroom. Anyway I am not a beginner walker, as I have stuck to sort of a plan before. So I know that it does make me feel somewhat better. But I only stayed on the plan for a couple of months, then gave up.....for whatever reason. So here I am again wanting desperately to not fail this time.
So I guess this thread is for anyone that does walk, anyone that is struggling to walk because of depression or anxiety issues. And anyone else really......
I am unsure of the outcome of all this. But my ideas included: Sharing about things we have found out about exercise especially about walking. Writing down the reasons that one would chose to walk ( like something to help motivate). Being accountable in same way. Sharing about the places where we actually do walk, like the beach, gym, around the block, with the dog, out to the clothesline and back. And any other useful tips that could help others. So here we go......

Hello!
Well I am posting to say that I haven't been walking much at all. The walking I have done over the last few days is from the car to appointments at a couple of places. I needed to park a bit of a distance away one time. That was a little bit different that little walk as I came upon this run down house that looked like no one lived there. The house was nestled in amongst very long grass which was growing about half way up the sides of this place. Looking up into a window which did have a curtain of some sort was a stuffed bird. I hate seeing things like that it really grosses me out. Anyway I kept on walking to where I needed to go...
Good on you Elizabeth, Mrs D, and Kaitoa. How you getting along Taurus and CheeseSlices?

Hi
I have a rent inspection also so have been very busy in the garden. I still have some house cleaning to do. I was out on 3 extended (3-5 hrs) shopping/wandering trips in the last 4 days. Tomorrow I will have to shop again as I was so anxious I forgot toilet paper, bread and meat! I i have trouble moving larges amounts of shopping on my own, I am trying to build my strength. I use cans for weights some days - but I sometimes forget to do it at all.
Showering is an issue. I am so sore and exhausted from being on my feet, by this time I barely have the strength to brush my teeth (they are starting to rot because of this). I didnt sleep at all last night so I hope I do tonight, going on 52 hours no sleep.
I get frustrated with needing suncream everytime I need a walk now. I want to try and get to the swimming pool (indoor) for summer. I have walked up half a dozen times but chickened out before walking in the doors. I will get there, just not sure when.

Ah CheeseSlices you came back to this thread. That's great.
You want to go swimming....I reckon you should just go for it. Just walk straight on in, if you don't mind me saying so. If you are feeling some anxiety about it, try doing something with your mobile phone as you are approaching the doors and walking in. Or perhaps pause at the doors and write something on a small piece of paper. Write something like 'yeah go for it!" And draw a happy face.
I have felt anxiety in amongst people at the shopping centre, I thought they were all staring at me. So I got out my phone and pretending to be looking at something on it. It helped by focusing on something else for just a bit. Anyway it is just a thought that popped into my mind about you there. Definitely a good idea of yours swimming.....Yeah ...Yeah... You can do it!
Working in the garden and house cleaning is good exercise, but you probably already knew that? And I am going to do some vacuuming now, since you have inspired me to do it. So thanks heaps. Appreciate you inspiring me like that.
Yeah go for it CheeseSlices!

Hello
I decided to walk down at our local recreation area. So after putting on shoes, walking out the front door, I headed in that direction.
Turning the corner near our place, I saw a small collection of stuff on the kerb, waiting for curbside collection. Poking out from the stuff was a cage, a previous home for a mouse as it had plastic sort of tunnels in the cage. I kept on walking, crossed the road and turned into the rec area. I walked along for a while, past the canteen/soccer amenities on the right. I kept walking past the hobby farm, and noticed netting over their vegetables in their garden. This hobby farm also has a line of white boxed bee hives. I didn't notice any bees though. I walked around the large oval. And then headed over to the ponds, there were two guys sitting on the small jetty. They were dangling their legs over the side. I am now following this trail that sort of follows the pond. This trail leads to some grass netball courts and a playground, so I past those and head towards home. Once I was on the road, I could see a couple of homes that had all there Christmas lights on.
