We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.
Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!
Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.
Best wishes
EM

Hi PinkFeather! And a big huge warm welcome to the forums lol... wow the more the merrier!
I gotta say I loved your very first self-care point.... that made me laugh.... love it.
I saw a post on the forums somewhere once where a member suggested a "DONE list" instead of a TO DO LIST.
There's so much bossiness in a to do list lol.
A DONE list means you already done it I suppose? LOL.
Awesome.
Sometimes I read back on people's self-care lists here and I'm in so much AWE of everyone posting!
Some of us are only in our first few rodeos of FOCUSSING on self-care but hey when we do it, it DOES feel good.
I think we need to get us some more of it lol.
Here's some of mine for today! lol... I laugh at my own sarcasm sometimes.
* Had a lovely bath of types... sat in the bath tub watching MAN DOWN omg so funny Blue!! lololol. Love it.. and then left the plug out and washed all the grime off from being in the garden (because gardening is my NOT so secret addiction)... I liked not having the yucky water in the tub with me...
* I got dressed up AGAIN wow guys a few days in a row lol... to take my family out for my eldest daughter's birthday.
* I put on make up and nice perfume.
Ahhh that was fun.

Oh thank you Blue!
What a lovely post!
I'm so happy to hear Fred's home again. I just gave him that name for fun. Change it if you want to!
He's doing SO WELL too! Picking up your breakfast bar (well done Ms Minimalism Lady lol) because it sounds SO ORGANISED!
AND EVEN going for a walk, awww so lovely.
You got this girlfriend.

How you doing? Big hugs!
Helplines are a LIFE SAVER and the best self-care action we can do in tough times.
WELL DONE YOU!
I like the sorbet idea too... not a fan of ice cream.
But my belly is like a Buddha tonight after the Thai food and chocolate cake.
LOVE YOUR WORK!

Sleepy - the sorbet was great, really refreshing. Sorry to hear you're having a rough time. Hope you can do some things for yourself to feel a bit better. Start with remembering you've been doing some great work with standing up for yourself, and seeking help when it's needed.
EM - I chuckled at you sitting in the tub watching Man Down. Glad you're getting a laugh out of it. 🙂
Don't know if I've mentioned it on the forum recently but the "done" list is something I advocate. When I'm having a rough day I sometimes write some things I've achieved on my whiteboard. The idea came from finding some old to-do lists that had everything crossed off. It was a real eye-opener just how much I had achieved, looking at those.
Haha, he's definitely not a Fred - too sexy for a name like that! Love having him home, and it's a bonus that he was able to do those things. We love the breaky bar, you bet it's organised.
I'll list off yesterday's self care for now, I've done sod all of anything so far today:
- Called about my work idea yet again. Disappointing result, but it was a daunting task and I did it. Courage, y'all!
- Another wetland walk, took my binoculars to watch the birdies.
- Made green curry, it was pretty darn tasty.
- Watched some anime with my partner.

You're right, Not_Batman, the walks are great for that. I generally come back from them in a much better frame of mind, gets me into the present (there is a lot of "Ooh, bird!", haha. Sounds like you needed some relaxing time, and did just what you needed to do. 🙂
Have done some me things today:
- Did my nails, each one a different colour (cheers Sleepy, for the idea).
- Made a vegetarian mornay, and solved the mystery of the lumpy roux (white sauce)! The recipe asked for half as much butter as it needed so I was always having problems with that component. Came out beautifully this time, have written the fix on the recipe.
- Got a "date" with my man to watch some anime shortly.

Hello ecomama, I loved your warm welcome and thanks so much for this thread. It's such a lovely way to get to know you all and to nail in some positive vibes. Big hugs to everyone else too, thank you for sharing.
Today was good, not one anxiety attack! My 3 things:
1. Tended to my animals and took the time to absorb their contented sounds as they ate. I did that! Made other beings feel safe and cared for.
2. Weeded my veggie patch. It was such a beautiful cool morning after much needed rain, the earth smelt damp and rich. You guessed it, before I knew it I was in there for longer than expected, getting lost in the moment and not obsessing over mouse-wheel thoughts.
3. Took a walk into nature and sat on a rock. Saw the play of the sun on the quartz and again was able to just experience the moment and be.
It really has been a beautiful day. I must always remember it is nature that soothes my soul in the dark times. Thanks for being here everyone! xo
