We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.

Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!

Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.

Best wishes
EM

Hey CalmCat and a belated (not bleated lol) very warm welcome to the forums!
I'm not sure if we've met?
Are you Doz's identical twin?

LOVE that self-care! Well done, hope you have a wonderful time with your friend (not fiend lol - omg these false nails have GOTTA GO!). xxxx

Hey missep!!
Sorry I missed your GREAT self-care as per usual. We must've been posting at the same time so SNAP! lol.
I agree with J* about your smashing pumpkin nail colour, CUTE! You're probably out for dinner atm, hope you had fun! xxxx

Hey J*!
How or why am I so positive lol?
How? well my dear friend, I may have a different base line to many others, perhaps? ..
basically any day above ground is a GOOD day!
Besides many other animals I was called lol... I was described as a cat with 9 lives... I'd say 99, so Thankyou Lord.

Next... why? Well why darned not!
I 100% KNOW that being positive WORKS.
Remember the Bible story of the father who gave his 2 sons money to "fill a room"? the winner bought a CANDLE which lit every corner, many hidden meanings in Holy books.
Just like YOU light up a room when you walk in, BE the positive change you want to see in the world.
The Lord knows we MORE light in this world.
That's why YOU are here and I'm so grateful. Thankyou! xxxx

Hey Harpbird!
A RODEO?? Wow!
I hope your daughter rode well!
It's been forever since I've been to a rodeo lol.
Sounds like a great day.
The weather cleared to a warm, sunny day here, hope you shared the same beautiful weather up there. xxxx

Well companion self-carers... my ROOF update (no that's not my dog's bark, it's my actual ROOF of my house!)
I know you've all been desperately awaiting the news... hahaha
OMG it's fan-fairy-TASTIC news!!
The roofer who quoted this afternoon was a QUARTER the price for MORE repairs!
And he's fully licensed AND fully insured.
Clearly the other guy was a joker - our nice term for a rip off artist. I looked him up later and not licensed, no sign of insurance.. pfft.

Going with my instincts paid off BIG time.
SO happy!

So the vital question of the day is Should I go with Yvette's choice of a RED ROOF???
Omg... breathe out EM... lol... I said Great darling, how bout we VOTE on it? Omg we all give in to Yvette so much... we're gonna have a red roof soon 🤣😂 cheeses.

More of our self-care was a whole day perfume shopping for Yvette to spend her Easter earnings lol, got some cute clothes and a YUMMY THAI Lunch too!

Onwards and UPwards peeps!

Three self care things I did do :

1. Drew some really beautiful pictures that I am SUPER PROUD of!!

2. Listened to Crowded House’s album ‘Recurring Dream’ and also listened to Gloria Gaynor’s track ‘I Will Survive’ on repeat to remind myself why I left a toxic, narcissistic, energy draining relationship and that I’m so strong with being alone now. I WILL SURVIVE!!!

3. Drank green tea.. I looooove tea so much!

Hello All. Self care for me was I laid in bed all day.

With kind regards

Hi all,

Malaika that sounds gorgeous! I really want to stay in bed all day! That said, I also hope that tomorrow is a day which invites you to get out and do something joyful 🙂 May your day of rest recharge your batteries!

PF I love Crowded House too, so good for so many different occasions! Love the sound of your drawing too;)

Thanks Em, that really makes sense. A bit more insight into what makes you who you are. Glad you're still here my dear.

Today I gave myself permission for a classic Sunday day of rest. Organised my paperwork re my new job, and feelt more together for my week now.

Not much else! Ate cold happy buns! Yummy salad for lunch. Drank tea! And coffee.......

Have been intending to get into my sewing room all day, but tired now lol. Luckily I went thru my wardrobe and found some clothes to wear to work so no pressure. I have enacted your tip Em and put all work clothes together....

I moved one of our plants around, and it sparks joy now, I can see it, and enjoy it in it's new spot.

Put a combo of patchouli and bergamot in the diffuser. Grounding and uplifting.

Washed my hair.

Wow, quite a good day actually! It's amazing once you start thinking of things!

Cheers all, thanks Em for this thread. It's a good practice, thinking of the good things we've done for ourselves. Love in Action!

PS I don't know that bible story- not with a candle anyhow...? Sounds excellent tho!

Cheers all,

J*

Hi all

Self care for myself today just involved taking care of my physical body.

Washed my hair

Went for a walk

Spent time outside in the sunshine

Hey Shelll, LOVE your self-care today... anything is GREAT, thinking about it can help. It doesn't have to be "new"!xxxx

Hey PF, LOVE that you're creating Art again. Funny hearing your choice of music, so much "coming back" - it's fun knowing all the words to sing along! xxxx

Hey Malaika, staying in bed sounds WONDERFUL to me! It was icy cold here today, hope you kept toasty warm! xxxx

Hey J*
Glad the organisation of work clothes helped... this makes life so much easier when working!

Nice self-care!

I can't find ref to this story in the Bible but there are many variations online (I just looked it up lol)... sorry!
Same story but THREE sons not 2. The parable goes "there isn't enough darkness in the whole world to put out the light of just one candle" .... arguable point there since we know SO much of what's happening in the world now...

But true when we have light in our hearts. xxxx

My self-care today:

~ bought some yummy foods I LIKE lol! And a few things to help the organisation in my laundry / linen press. One son flooded the laundry / house last weekend, so it was time for a CLEAN OUT last week. I bought hooks & railing type thingies to hang up my brooms, etc.

~ said YES to helping Alexa with filming. It was FUN... she couldn't stop laughing which we knew would happen ... we had to do a few reruns.

~ said NO to Alexa's want of watching an extremely sad Netflix episode (I started getting tears with her just telling me about the story!)... I simply said "Not today darling". Gave no reasons.

~ had a nap after Alexa left.

Upon reflection, after my nap ofcourse, I realised I'm:
- tired with not enough sleep - late night & early starts with kid's work shifts.
- physically exhausted with all the manual hard labour lately
- under financial stress, didn't realise how much that was weighing on me until GOOD NEWS came yesterday
- emotionally drained with BF and other family member's emotional demands
- under the pump with submitting Tax paperwork
- grieving the losses of friend's precious children, there's anxiety there too.

Needing psychological equilibrium is important most of the time.

I decided to put the Tax stuff away and do on the next 2-3 weekends only....

and GARDEN this week in my last week of Leave, the cool weather is perfect and gardening always rejuvenates me.
Might even get out the high pressure hose lol... that's FUN!

Love EM
