We can do it BBers, we can do self-care.

Sleepy21 pointed out research that shows self-care REALLY helps!

Please share what you do for self-care so we can get inspiration, ideas and motivation to do it too.

Best wishes
EM

Nice ones missep, love that you're watching show you like that help you unwind and be happy!

Nice ones too J* or shall we call you the NEW ME J* lol!

Great both of you have noted getting organised as self-care - IT REALLY IS isn't it!!

Completely agree that self-care is ALSO living in the moment and being spontaneous when you can be in the flo of life. Beautiful.

A BRENE BROWN PODCAST omg I'm already in love with that lol!!
She's great company ANY time but having a podcast means she can help me do my housework hahaha.

My self-care today:

* had a 4h NAP felt so exhausted after taking rescue poodle to the Vet. His anxious barking for an hour in the car was NOT fun. We had a nap together afterwards lol.

* made a really nice avocado, tomato, Swiss cheese and pastrami on Turkish Bread for lunch first lol.

* my reaction to son leaving school is to THROW HIM A PARTY lol, we're working out dates atm. I'm really super proud of him.

* my hired gardener DID come today, oh yay! Raining this morning so I thought he might ditch it. He came at noon instead AND at a reduced rate for me now too, yay!

* BF is snowed in, at a remote mine in Alaska, this has added to the anxiety of multiple things this week... SO I'm kind of having the night OFF. Night OFF worrying - replacing it with ANY THING I WANT TO DO.

* I bought SO many things yesterday, oh yeah.
4 beautiful sets of retractable silicone containers with lids!
All rainbow colour coded which is my all time fave lol.
Now I can ditch the yucky mismatched ones to the Op Shop and have a neat and organised container cupboard. Yay.

* I've been Googling rainbow coloured labels and tags for my NEW Office at work!
And all my resources and just about anything I want to label lol.
Might take this thang to the sewing stuff... pretty fancy lol.

Love to you all, you're ALL MAGNIFICENT!

i'm really feeling you J star re how sometimes we have to let go and not be disciplined and let our body be. And then discipline also has been my home and safety in other moments. The balancing-act of life!

You're magnificent, EM as are all the ppl here. Ur all inspiring and make me feel so welcomed and good 🙂

today's self - care was not so easy....

- I gave myself a hug when my mind kept racing It steadied me (i think i've mentioned my self-care hugs somewhere else....it's a thing!)

- I went to the library for a bit, it's a nice cosy place to be

- I asked my friend to help me with something I haven't had success with on my own. Hopefully she can help but the asking itself is my self-care today. Admitting I wasn't having much luck with my own efforts.

Hey Sleepy, your self-care was AWESOME!

I "hear you" about the 'asking someone for help', it's a HUGE thing!
CONGRATULATIONS, it's big.
(I must've been intuiting your post in my sleep Sleepy! I dreamt about this 'asking for help' with approaching Easter > PTSD elements lightly lingering).

Yes! The beautiful self hug. Aww nice.
I loved your tip of holding ones own hands and watched all of Kristen Neff's stuff I could find lol.

I do an ecomama 'salute to the sun' most mornings when I remember.
Stretch my arms out straight to the sides,
look towards the sun rising usually lol,
then put my hands together above my head and look up at them, BREATH IN..
then bring them down to meet the top of my head,
then forehead, then crook of my nose (by then I'm usually smiling),
under my nose, then mouth,
then chin and under my chin, chest, going down.

I say things like "thankyou" "I'm grateful" "peace" "calm" "beautiful day" "life" on repeat.
Usually just intuit one and stick with it.

Might do it once or 5 times, breathe how I like after first deep breath.

1. im making my old dog an anxiety jacket for comfort and support

2. i forgive my husband for his faults

3. and im not cooking tea tonight

Hi all. Great efforts. Totally identify with the asking for help one, Sleepy. Hope it goes better for you than it usually does for me.

My self care:

- Got myself some soft, squishy socks and comfy insoles for work. I've done this before, but they were somewhat worn out. Good to replace them.

- A lot of reading on a new lead to what might be going on in my mental health that's making life harder than it needs to be.

- Limiting my forum time to this message and one other. Knackered from work, it's time to rest.

Blue.

Completed a half hour of stretches to help relieve tired and stiff muscles

Talked to some staff at work when I was feeling a little stressed

Sat outside for a while when I came home and wandered around in the garden looking at nature

Hey Blue! Great self-care for your feet! nice one :-))

Hey Doz! Stretches are amazing self-care! nice one too :-))

Hey Hereforsupport! Welcome to the forums!
I got an inkling about what's going on in your house!
Oh yeah I remember the days... my self-care was being able to use the loo, THEN I built on that by going to the loo with the door shut... that's about it.
Warm welcome, shout out for support any time to you and everyone.

My self-care yesterday:

* having an awesome scrub in the bath... this entailed cleaning the bath first, then I decided to clean the window sill and windows for a better view from the bath. Ahhh FELT GOOD.

* listened to one Brene Brown podcast on repeat lol. Thanks for the tip J*! You'd be SO proud lol, I actually asked one of the kids for help in downloading it to listen offline, yah I know how to do it now... I think lol. Brene's great company any time.

* asking for help, yeah Sleepy and Blue, it's a thang! Sure not much came of it lol, but I might have some help some times with that added responsibility to my every week day now. IDK.
I'm gonna prod for that help ongoing.

* helped Mitch clean up his room - did the "20 minutes on the clock" strategy. I think he's realising a few things ie leaving school was an anti climax. He's feeling low atm.

* bought some healthy snacks for this week at work. Powering on!

Lots of love EM

I bought a homeless man a coffee as the weather was not great in Melbourne. The feeling I got was amazing!
