Hi Emilyem,
Welcome!!! Feeling stuck can be very annoying especially when you know what to do but can't seem to get out of it. It's a very natural human experience, we all feel stuck at some point in life. So, the good thing is you are not alone.
If you don't mind me asking and if you feel like sharing, is this feeling in general or is it a particular area for e.g. career, relationships or personal growth?
The most challenging process is to identify the root cause that can help you become better like is it fear of failure, scared of change, self-doubt or something else. You can also speak to your GP or a professional who can guide you in the right way (if you haven't already).
In the meantime, you can try taking small steps to get you out of your "comfort zone", make the task as easy as possible on yourself. Also, be gentle with yourself and give permission to make mistakes and learn from them. Challenge any negative self-talk and surround yourself with people who encourage and support you.
Whenever I feel stuck, I take baby steps to try something different and I try to focus on making little progress than achieve perfection. Don't forget to appreciate yourself for whatever you achieve no matter how small, this will motivate you to move forward.
I really hope you feel better. Here for you if you feel like chatting...
Take care

I think many can relate to being stuck. When I feel like that I try doing something different If I am sitting down inside I go and walk outside even it is to the fence and back. It may not stop the stuck feeling but it does feel ok to have tried. Sometime I have hit a bus to a place locally I have not been to fo a while.
I have contacted people I have not contacted for a while.

It sounds like you're aware of what might help but are struggling to put it into action. That's really common when you're feeling stuck. Here are a few things you might try:
Start Small: Pick one small, manageable step to take towards feeling better. Sometimes starting with something tiny can help build momentum.
Set Realistic Goals: Break down bigger tasks into smaller, more achievable goals. This can make them feel less overwhelming.
Reach Out for Support: Talking to a friend, family member, or therapist can provide encouragement and help you take those first steps.
Be Kind to Yourself: It's okay to struggle. Try to avoid self-criticism and remember that it's a process.
Try Routine Changes: Even small changes in your daily routine can sometimes make a difference.
Taking action, even in small ways, can be a good start towards breaking out of the stuck feeling.

Emilyem,
Thank you so much for reaching out, and welcome to the forums. I think you may be closer to getting yourself out than you think - you've reached out to us, which is a great sign that you're eager to start your journey of feeling better.
I agree with the advice others have given already. Small steps are a good start, and congratulating yourself for these small achievements can also help motivate you to take bigger steps. Making your bed, going for a walk, reading a page of a book... all small, fairly immediate things that can elevate your mood and motivation.
What is the main thing you're feeling, if I may ask? This may also help narrow down the advice we can give.
I hope this helps, and remember we're here to chat if ever you need.

Hi Emilyem and all,
Being stuck can be quite an issue, it is wonderful people have shared thoughts and strategies here, I have made note of a few of the ides for myself.
One of mu issues is being able to identify why I am stuck, having the ability to self access what the issue is may be half the battle for me, so I appreciate the suggestion to consider the root cause to feeling stuck.
Recently I have been physically unwell so unable to go walking which has so many benefits for me. Instead I chose to take a different road when going to work or to the shops and tried to appreciate the views around me. It took me longer, but the benefits were worth it. Small changes can make a big difference.
Wishing you well on your journey of self discovery and growth.
