I've cancelled my therapist. I can talk to them until I'm blue in the face but I've realised any difference that is going to be made has to be up to me. I know what to do, I have my tools, I have this website. I just have to apply myself and put it into practice.

I'm glad i went. I really I am. But I've gone through the entire process before and there are no magic solutions in doing this again. That's just the tough, nasty reality of depression and anxiety and the negativity that comes with it in my case. I know the root causes. It's up to me to overcome them.

Hi Keith

That's some really positive words that you've posted here.  Inspirational not only to yourself, but I feel to anyone who reads it.

I'm sorry I can't remember Keith from your initial post, was it late last week?  With regard to medications, etc?  Are you on them?  Will you still see a GP from time to time if the need arises?

I also hope that you stay on here with us, but only if you feel that you want too.  But hey, we will always be here, so if you ever feel the need to vent or whatever or just to write to let us know how you're going, we'll be here.

However, if you feel you'd like to continue to post away while you go through this phase of dealing with it all then we'd be only too happy to try and assist or just to support you through this time as well.

Kind regards

Neil

That's the bottom line isn't it? Its up to each of us to make that step and change.

I have been in and out of therapy on and off for about 20yrs. I tried a psychiatrist, counsellor and psychologists who just listened and nodded their heads without giving any real constructive advice. The only therapy that made some sense to me was CBT which I tried some years ago but then did not see it through as I was just so stressed out anyway and indecisive.

I lived overseas for 13 yrs and then came home a yr ago and am finding it difficult to settle in. I have always had issues from being psychologically abused by a wicked stepmother after having lost my own mother to murder. I grew up as a bright intelligent and academic girl but then lost my way when I left home at 18 to go to uni. I made poor decisions since then which have left me feeling pissed off with myself. Now I am ruminating over the past and regretting everything I have ever done as an adult.

I am now seeing a new psychologist who uses CBT and eastern philosophy. Only saw him once but straight away I felt he understood. He said that he would teach me the tools I needed. I know at the end of the day its up to me. My family don't want to listen anymore and tell me to get on with it. I hope I can and you do too.
