This is my first post .
I have read some of your stories , and will send a cyber hug to you all. (((hug))). The place we are in is a very confusing and debilitating one - one which has taken a lot of us by surprise, and one which we are trying to leave.
A couple of weeks ago - I was approached by a local ABC OPEN producer and asked if I would do an interview for a project on isolation & depression.
For some reason unknown to me ,I agreed!
Normally I am not one to speak publicly, or be captured on a camera ... no way, Hose!
However ...this happened ....

Hi Belinda,
Welcome to the forums, and thanks for sharing your ABC story. I hope our members will click through and take a look, it's really great. The place where you live is beautiful, as is your photography, and the way you speak about your experience of depression really resonated with me as I'm sure it will with a lot of others here.
If you haven't already, please feel free to share the link on our Facebook page also: https://www.facebook.com/beyondblue

dear Belinda, this took a lot of courage to do and you did it, spoke beautifully and looked the picture.
May I ask how did the ABC know that you had depression being so far 'out of town' lol, and that any professional help would be non existant. L Geoff. x

Binjyb,
Firstly, thanks for the cyber hug. *hugs back*
Thank you so much for sharing your story! I find it really difficult to speak about my mental illness, so to see someone who also suffers and understands to actually go on television and speak so honestly... well, that is very inspiring.
Also, thank you for sharing your photos. I'm also a photography buff, although my images are nowhere near as spectacular as yours. You live in a beautiful place, surrounded by beautiful nature. Your images really capture that 🙂 I can tell you love the land, nature and wildlife... that speaks to me on a personal note because I grew up on a farm and I love all those things too. Your photos took my mind back to when I was a young girl growing up amongst the gum trees, wrens and snakes.
I'm very glad you decided to post on the forum and share your story with us 🙂

thank you scorch (love that name)
I am glad that some of my images bring you nice memories .... 🙂 Do you have photos online anywhere I could see ?
You know , I found it hard to try & describe the depression/anxiety .. and was always making excuses for things ... then when that interview was proposed, I just said YES ..it felt the 'right' thing to do at this time *shrugs* It is certainly not anything I've done previously 😉

I find it difficult to describe too, it's such a cliche but it seems that only people who have experienced mental illness can really understand it. That's why it's so great to see people like yourself getting out there and making depression/mental illness accessible and easier to understand to the rest of the community. 🙂
I'm glad you like my username 🙂 Yes, I have some of my images online. http://child-stainless.deviantart.com/ It's a small collection of photography from when I was a teenager at high school through to a couple of pics from last year... so some of it is old, poor quality and crap lol. I haven't posted on there for some time, so my better stuff isn't on there but there are some nice photos if you dig around. I don't have a home internet connection, so most of my stuff is just sitting on my computer with nowhere to go.
