Hi Everybody

This is only the basic dictionary definition...

"Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you're mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment without judgement"

  • Please be as blunt you wish....If you dont have an idea about mindfulness it would be great if you could let us know
  • If mindfulness hasnt worked/or is too broad a concept for you it would great if you can let us know your thoughts too
  • If mindfulness has helped you, please help others to help themselves by posting how you have embraced this mindset

It goes without saying that the forums are a judgement free zone and I really hope that everyone can jump in and have their say

I've been using mindfullness alot to help me get through the days when I really feel the cabin fever.

I also tell myself that im helping by doing my part to flatten the curve.

greetings all.

Gambit, I am glad mindfulness works for you. I try to concentrate on doing one thing at a time so I don't get overwhelmed by overthinking everything.

Hi everyone....New members are always welcome to post too 🙂

Hey Gambit....Thankyou for the helpful post! Its always a bonus to read your valued input...Can I ask how you have been using 'Mindfulness' during this difficult time? Any examples are welcome!

Hey Quirky...Thankyou again for sharing your life experience when you mentioned "I try to concentrate on doing one thing at a time so I don't get overwhelmed by overthinking everything" I also keep trying to do the same!

If anyone finds 'Grounding Ourselves' more effective than 'mindfulness' please let us know 🙂

Of course health professionals are encouraged to provide some support too!

Take care....Paul

Hi blondguy & everyone,

I practice mindfulness by using the SmilingMind app (guided meditations that are a good length so that you can centre yourself without getting fidgety), by appreciating the good things in every day (no matter how small), and making an effort to accept what is out of my control.

Interested to hear how other people practice mindfulness.

Thanks all!

Hello Paul and everyone..🤗.

Thats an interesting question..

For me if I’m over the top with anxiety I can’t be still enough to try to do mindfulness...

My mind is to chatty, my muscles are very tense, my body doesn’t want to be still...I need to ground myself first, to slow down my thoughts and body, and to relax my muscles to a certain degree of calm before I can even think of doing mindfulness...

Kind thoughts, love and hugs 🦋💜🤗..everyone..

Grandy..

Hello zguenzl,

Your mention of apps reminded me of one I found recently that's been a lifesaver for me! It's called "Stop, Breathe & Think: Meditation & Mindfulness". Apart from daily check-ins, it also recommends you exercises ranging from grounding to dealing with change. I've found it very useful, especially when the anxious tension gets too much.

Cheers,
Emmen

Emmen,

I am not that good at downloading apps but Stop, Breathe, & Think, Meditiation & Mindulness. seems like a great title and useful app.

I don't know where you find some apps as I cant seem to find them.

Hello quirkywords,

Just navigate to Google Play and the Apple App Store and search for it there. I got it from Google Play. Alternatively, do a web search for "Stop, Breathe & Think" and you'll get to their website. There are links there to the app on Google Play and Apple App Store.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Emmen

Hi Paul and everyone!

I sometimes use the smiling mind 'walking' meditation when im walking to get a coffee in the mornings, or I focus focus on the things around me (sights/sounds/smells/the feeling of walking) etc

I've had to setup a small office in my spare room so i can work from home. Sometimes I feel isolated so I focus on what I can see and hear outside.

I make sure I close my laptop at the end of the work day, leave the room and close the door behind me. I say to myself work is done for the day - its me time now. I usually go for my normal walk along the river. Again focusing on what I can see/hear/smell/touch around me.

saying to myself '1 day closer to the end of isolation/quarantine'

It all helps 🙂
