Hi Everybody
This is only the basic dictionary definition...
"Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you're mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment without judgement"
- Please be as blunt you wish....If you dont have an idea about mindfulness it would be great if you could let us know
- If mindfulness hasnt worked/or is too broad a concept for you it would great if you can let us know your thoughts too
- If mindfulness has helped you, please help others to help themselves by posting how you have embraced this mindset
It goes without saying that the forums are a judgement free zone and I really hope that everyone can jump in and have their say
Your input is highly valued no matter how you respond to this topic. There are no experts here...New Posters are Most Welcome!!

Thanks Paul for the explanation, seems pretty easy to do mindfulness sometimes, huh? I'm going to try and do more of it.
I agree with your words, thanks again. And thanks to everyone on this thread and the thread itself.

Today my mindfulness was:
- Admiring the arts and crafts at the art show where I live. I admired how long it all must've taken people, tried to take my own interpretations from it, admired the colours, frames, everything about every piece of art and craft. I love those events and stuff like that.
- My daily walks as I always mention - looking at my surroundings, taking in the nice smell of the fresh air, Eucalyptus trees, etc etc.

Hi Everyone,
It is always rewarding and encouraging reading people's posts here and elsewhere on the forum.
Today I went for a walk in an area I have not walked before. On returning home I looked at the photos I had taken while on the walk and some of the views I did not recall having seen!
Part of me thinks if I had been more mindful of my surroundings and the environment when walking I would not have been wondering what on earth the phots were of.
Then part of me realised I was feeling stressed out and anxious about even going on that walk, so achieving the distance I walked is something to celebrate.
There may be times when I really have to concentrate on being mindful to achieve it.
Next time I am walking I will try to be more observant and grounded and in the moment. If that doesn't work for me, I will try to be mindful for a few moments at home to practise the sensation.
Cheers all from Doolhof.

Hiya Pauly and everyone ☺
" mindfulness strengthens the good parts of your brain and helps calm the parts that stress you out"
I was looking at some notes looking for what I didn't find 😆 but on the same subject I stumbled onto a good interpretation of mindfulness as above.
Not sure who wrote it. Possibly on this thread.
Hope you and everyones going as well as can be ☺
Take care everyone 🌴

Hi Everyone! New members are always welcome to post too 🙂
Hey Dools.....Thankyou for your valued input especially in these very difficult times....Your are spot on where grounding ourselves is concerned....Its only my own humble opinion that 'grounding ourselves' is more helpful than 'mindfulness' at this time....(Unless a health professional can advise otherwise of course !)
Hey DB!....Its always a treat to have you help out on the forums and thankyou!
Demonblaster mentioned a great point.."mindfulness strengthens the good parts of your brain and helps calm the parts that stress you out".....This is a 'keeper' and great post
my kind thoughts and appreciation

Hi guys,
Great thread and great question!
To me, mindfulness feels is just 'being' and accepting everything as it is. It's like accessing your 'flow-state' - and by that I mean a point where you're feeling, not analytically thinking. For me, it feels like being on auto-pilot.
This state can be achieved in a variety of ways. It could be meditating, breathing deeply, closing your eyes and sun gazing, surfing, running, hugging a partner or family member, listening to music, reading a book, or any number of ways that make you feel present with yourself and whatever it is that you're doing.

Hi Nico B
Thankyou for your super kind & helpful post 🙂
Nico B mentioned 'For me, it feels like being on auto-pilot'.....I love this Nico B as mindfulness is exactly that....Being able to function without having to deal with the 'interference' of our negative thoughts
I wrote this post ages ago yet I still have difficulty understanding 'mindfulness'
Great post and thanks again for being a part of the discussion Nico B!
my kind thoughts
Paul
