Hi all,

 

I'm sure more people than I have travelled down this road more than me, but I have just recently had a chat with an AI bot about my stress/anxiety due to some work stuff.

 

It was genuinely helpful, which did surprise me. Wasn't anything ground breaking, but my social network is quite small so it was good to bounce ideas and emotions off something that was able to respond in kind.

 

So, if anyone is desperate enough for a chat, like me, give AI a go. But be careful to not give any personal info because who knows where they store your data really.

Thank you for sharing. How interesting is it that a bot can be as helpful as they are! They certainly do allow for easier access to all the information that's out there. It's nice to feel like you have some support when your friends or family might not be available. Sometimes reading a simple affirmation or coping strategy can go a long way! 

I would like to recommend exploring some mental health Instagram or YouTube accounts. Many professional psychologists share their work and will have strategies or reflections that you can explore when you need to hear some supportive or validating statements. 

You could also conduct a Q&A with yourself when you feel this way. For example, the more grounded part of you can ask questions to the anxious part - you will be suprised how many of your own answers you have! 

Of course, none of these replace therapy in isolation, but they are great additional options to explore when you don't have someone immediate to talk to.

Thank you for sharing your experience with the AI bot. I've been surprised at how helpful some of the AI responses have been to internet searches I've done. I am always trying to solve things of one sort or another, including emotional issues in my life, and the AI responses have been pretty spot on. They have been practical and sensible responses that are very clear. I'm glad you have experienced that help too.

Hello All,

 

Glad to hear you have found it to be helpful. I have not used it for myself in that regard, but I have heard some different experiences. Mind you that was a little while ago now. I have also used AI for other matters and found that it wants to put a positive spin on things. There is that, and how confident the responses can be.

 

Even though my reply might sound negative, just be aware of the above, and if it does reply with something you don't agree with.... tell it.
