Hilarious, embarrasing, and cheerful stories here...

I cracked up this morning. Long before I knew I had epilepsy, a primary school class was doing the game where a couple of students had to sit in front of the class; had the blackboard...

(Yes, blackboards. I'm that old).

behind them with the names of famous people/ characters/ etc written. The students had to ask questions to guess the name of who was written behind them.

Back then, I kept on laughing and said the names; how they were famous; how the character could (or couldn't) be guessed. Everyone sighed, and the teacher had to re-do names. BUT I didn't realise why the names had to be changed back then.

Eventually, I was sent to the back of the class and wasn't involved in the game. I just remembered that day; realised why I 'got in trouble'; and I'm still giggling. It turns out I have gelastic epilepsy.

Please share stories about others, to give those (like myself) a temporary break from depression.

Hi Steph_12345,

Haha, that is funny - although sad of your health status.

I have an embarrassing one. When I was 32, I used to work in the city. In a Christmas setting, we went to a restaurant. I was so anxious, I ordered something I wasn't used to; that was the same as my boss. Oh,it was paid for by work. It was then I found out that I couldn't eat lamb (as Ihad a reaction to these. ) And I threw up all over one of my coworkers. I was so embarrassed that all of them thought it was funny. Except my coworker, I would assume. But she giggled any way to be nice.

So the Christmas after, I said I 'had a holiday planned'. So I wouldn't have to go. I told it to a mate who also worked with us. He covered for me

I don't think many would find it funny, but to this day I still feel uncomfortable. around her.

thanks again for bringing up the topic.

Hi Steph_12345 and Anxious Steve,

LOL - you've got some crack ups here. One of my 'find it funny now' stories was when I was on a date with my now girlfriend at this Italian restaurant. We were still getting to know each other and I was so nervous on the night (both generally AND because I had very little dating experience). Anyway, she asked me to pour Parmesan cheese over her meal which I dreaded because at the time I had some very shaky hands. It was from a metal container. You could either pour it over your meal from the container or screw the lid off and sprinkle it on with a spoon. Foolishly, I chose the latter, but in my anxious state my terribly trembling hands made me spill it all over the table and none on her meal. Incredibly embarrassed I screwed the lid back on and tried to sprinkle it over her meal from the container instead. But in my haste I had not realised that it wasn't screwed on properly. The lid popped right off and buried her meal in Parmesan cheese. Never felt more embarrassed in my life...

Yet, she's still with me and I guess time has made me realised how silly it must have looked.

Love this thread.
