Goals instead of resolutions

So instead of resolutions that we won’t keep, I thought we could post some goals that we have the year to work towards...
I have a few:
1. Finish my Diploma
2. Make 2 new real friends
3. Swim more - swimming is good for my brain, peace, body, pain, grounding etc
4. Work towards finding long term solutions for my pain
5. Help as many people as I can by sharing my story

Lovely idea Tasa, and a realistic challenge. I love your goals, and wish you every success in achieving them.
I have a couple of goals I am willing to share here:
1. Strive for a regular exercise regime - healthy body / healthy mind.
2. Get a diagnosis for my anxiety and depression, and accept appropriate treatment.
3. Remain strong so I can properly support my terminally ill partner.

Hi Tasa and Mandy,
I think having instead of resolutions is a great idea. It gives you something to work towards, rather than a resolution that you have to keep. For me, having a set date to finish something isn’t necessarily good, as I set high expectations and feel like a failure if I don’t meet them.
My goals are...
- Start my Diploma of Nursing.
- Get my P’s so I can drive myself to work.
- Buy a car. 🚗
- Better lifestyle - healthier eating, more exercise, and a good routine so that I sleep well.
- Better mental health!

Hey everyone,
I agree, goals not resolutions. Doesn't give that added pressure that we don't need just in case things don't work out how we wanted and we haven't achieved what we want by the end of the year.
I have this feeling that 2018 is going to be a good year. Evens seem to work as good years, odds not and in my case, 2016 was a great year, 2017 not.
So my goals are:
1. Drive my car. It has been nearly 5 years since I drove on the road after driving long distance, in holiday peak traffic and in the weather that they tell you to not be on the roads. I want to beat those fears.
Anyone got any tips to beat the driving fear?
2.Make it up to my best friend, who hasn't spoken to me in months after my behaviour caused him to be driven away and reconnect. That one needs time, i'm leaving him alone for awhile before saying hi again.
3 Stress less and manage my anxiety, work has the main cause of that
4. Be happy, positive and know that my quirkiness is what sets me apart from the crowd. Basically, be myself and not hide it away!

I love this. I too believe in goals as opposed to resolutions. It doesn't have to be a goal for the new year it could be a short term goal for the next week or next month.

My list might go something like this:
FIND AND USE : Motivation, determination and creativity to develop wellbeing.
BE OPEN: to new ideas, people and opportunities.
LET GO OF: the past, impossible tomorrows, regrets and hurts.

Some of my goals;
- Go 'cardless' instead of cashless. I'm want to set a daily limit, take out the cash for the week and that is what i have to spend. No more impulsive buying because it is 'on sale' or 'I might use it one day' or 'just because'.
- Go back to work, part time or casual for now. Get out there and be 'me, someone', not just a mum.
- Stop hoarding things I don't use/need. Sell it on ebay/garage sale or donate.
- Go minimal/declutter. Only have what i need and use. All the extra things only make me happy for a short period when i buy them. After that they depress me because they are cluttering up my space.

you have set some great goals that I’d like to work backwards. 4. I already love your quirkiness and think if you embrace it and wear it with pride thing will change for you, for the better.
3. Is great as is. Find what works for you and do it. Stress is not our friend.
2. Without. Knowing the circumstances I think this is a great goal, as it can be hard to find and keep friends and if there is a chance to mend things you should take it make the effort to make this move even if it’s just a little cute emoji. You’ll know if he is a real friend soon.
1. Is tricky. Driving can be fun and driving can be scary. start with small drive not too far make sure it’s comfortable to drive, play some nice music go somewhere Familiar, have someone in the car you trust first and just take it really slow.
