Finally making friends

Hi.

Just a quick one.  I wanted to share something positive from my life.   I think sometimes we only focus on the negative and overlook the positive, so I wanted to share something that made me feel happy.

I usually hide from interaction, my low self esteem, insecurity and anxiety tend to make me a loner.  (No one can hurt me if I don't let them near) But lately I've been trying to do things that scare me so that I can function and live in the real world.

Well one of those things has been wanting to make friends.  My husband and I know lots of people in this small town we live in, we're involved in volunteer organisations, church etc... but we never really found any good friends here, just acquaintances.  Well, we used to have 2 friends, but they both moved away and we don't see them often.

Anyway, for the last couple of months we've started spending some time with an engaged couple that we met through a volunteer organisation.  We've had them over to our place a couple of times, and visited them quite a bit.  I'm so excited because they've become really close friends to us.  We all click so well.

I'm just really excited that we've finally got some friends.  Good friends.  It has taken a burden off my chest, and I know it's helped my hubby too - having other people to talk to.  So yeah, just wanted to share this with you guys.  Yesterday afternoon they called to ask us if we wanted to go four-wheel driving on the spur of the moment.  Usually I freak out at unplanned events, but we said yes and had a really fun night.

I think it's  nice to look at the good things that happen in our lives.

What are some good things that have happened to you guys lately?

dear Scorch, I think that's beautiful and it must have been the right time for this to happen, and normally to do events on the spur of the moment are always the best, no planning , no need to be frightened, what will we take and all of that, so well done and it's about time you had some luck.

My son's dog had puppies and only two suffered, but aren't puppies everything most of us fall in love with, but sadly they have to go in a couple of weeks as he's moving back North and can't really take them.

I think he and I will threat more than mummy dog. L Geoff. x

Thanks Geoff! I find spur of the moment difficult because sometimes if I don't prepare for things I get overwhelmed by them.  If I know what might happen beforehand, well I can put safeguards and coping plans in place to help me if I start to freak out.  So yeah, it was a pleasant surprise when no freak outs happened and we all had a great time.

Puppies are great.  What breed are they?  I bet they are cute!  I'm sorry to hear they have to go soon.  Have you found homes for them?
