As the saying goes "life begins at 60"

Since turning 64 recently iv been wondering.. am i different since i hit 60...

Has your life changed since then?

Someone said the other day.."try to get to know yourself.. find out what you want to get out of life?"

Statistically iv got 29 years to find myself.. my dad's 93..

When we hit 60 where do we go..what do we do?

I am really pleased you got into the water and enjoyed it. Finding something which works for you with your current limitations is an achievement. I have recently been pushing myself to try some things I used to enjoy but had stopped due to physical & mental challenges. Unfortunately that has come to an abrupt halt after breaking my wrist due to a fall. A problem of getting older for me is weak bones. I walk a lot so my legs are fine but I'm extremely right handed so my left arm is vulnerable.

Dear Moon,

Its a big achievement..and something that you should be proud of.....Your persistence paid off...

I could only imagine how exhilarating the water would have been for you...Something about the beach that’s so peaceful and calming even just sitting down and watching it...

Good on you Moon..you done well...

Hi Moon.

That's terrific! You've managed to go swimming in the ocean and found a place where your pain is helped and you can enjoy yourself in the outdoors and it makes you feel marvellous! Way to go girl! And you had the guts to try to get there a second time and you made it. Hooray for you! I think that's fantastic. Something like that gives your spirits such a boost. I am so glad you managed to do that and find somewhere that makes you feel relaxed and free and happy, despite the pain/injury you've gone through. I hope you keep going back there - something like that can be almost life changing.

I am so pleased for you! Honestly I read what you posted and was so happy for you! Go you good thing you! The sea/swimming is wonderful for chronic pain. That's wonderful Moon!

Dear Moon, THIS WAS AWESOME TO READ!

Thankyou for sharing that with us!

Kudos to you for having another go!

It's beautiful and echoes an example of what Elizabeth CP & Geoff were saying... we can accept and embrace "how things are for us" but taking any limitations on board mentally means we CAN do things we love or loved to do!

Who cares if we need to adjust things for how we are now.

I LOVED reading how you didn't care what other people were seeing... I'll tell you what my family and I think when we see ANY ONE having a go at life.... "isn't that awesome" and the kids have even said... when I'm older I'M going to be JUST LIKE HER.

I literally giggled when you wrote how you felt when you were swimming.
WELL DONE YOU!

Hello Moonstruck, my thoughts are entirely with you and also feel exactly what you are struggling with because now I can't walk my puppie anymore, my golf days finished a long time ago, I can't even mow the grass, so my thoughts can deeply connect with what you are saying.

The difficulty is that we never ever thought this would ever happen as a kid or a young man, in my case, the thought we always had was we're young, mobile and physically fit, it's impossible to even believe that one day we will be incapable of walking, especially along the beach but in the swimming pool, how good that feels.

Those who are not in his predicament, please try and keep your joints active, and remember if you have any pain, there is no fairy godmother, it generally won't just go away by itself, have it seen to.

Best wishes.

Geoff.

Dear Moon~

I'm very glad the beach is working out. You may have spills but it is htere and you will enjoy it.

I know that you are most anxious about your injury affecting your favorite occupation, I do not think it will stop you, not becuse you cannot walk far, but becuse in many tournaments you are not expected to walk far anyway. Think of the tournament we have always discussed, there sitting or only occasionally moving has been the female's lot.

Hang in there Moon, you will find ways just as you have at the beach

i agree with what everyone has written about what an achievement it was to swim and how good it made you feel.

I know I overthink things and stop myself from doing things which I used to like but now avoid.
thanks for sharing .

I went in again today and it felt even better...I would go every day if I could. My mood seemed to be lifted a notch for rest of the day.

And I don't have to sign-in with my phone..or wear a mask..the ocean accepts me just the way I am...xx

Thats great Moon, to feel that freedom.

I get that when I walk. On the weekend I walked from my friends place to a relatives place about 5 kms and was all flat. it was hot but I felt good and enjoyed the walk and did not get lost!!

For me the thought of doing something is often worse than doing it.

Hey Moon, what you describe to us is beautiful. I'm really glad you're doing this!

Hey quirky, well done on that walk! wow lol.

My feet and legs feel hammered from work but with lots of issues there too...I climb sets of stairs maybe 100 times a day and have all sorts going on. Seeing a new Podiatrist soon so I hope she can help.

Had surgery this week and feel tumbled by that too. Yuck. More diagnoses and totally conflicting advice on dealing which drives me crazy. If Traditional Medicine is so conflicted then I jump into alternative therapies. I've found a Kinesiologist and hope SHE can help me too!

Have no idea how to navigate these new paths.

I'd LOVE a swim in the ocean!
