I am having bad dreams at least once a week. Last night I had a dream about snakes and crocodiles. When these dreams occur I usually wake up 1-2 hours earlier than on other days. I am not sure what has triggered these bad dreams. I have never had these bad dreams as often in the past.

Clara1,
Thank you so much for reaching out, and we warmly welcome you to the forums. I'm so sorry to hear that you've been having bad dreams - as somebody who also gets nightmares (and they're quite unpleasant, sometimes graphic ones), I can relate to the distress that this must be causing.
If you'd be willing to share, has there been something that's happened to you recently that may be causing these bad dreams? Anything related to people in your life, or work, or something traumatic that's happened, or have you been under a lot of stress? These kinds of dreams kind sometimes be triggered by bad things happening in your life.
What I usually do is talk to somebody about what happened in the dream, as talking through it tends to help ease the distress. I also love journaling, and so I'll often write down what happened in my dream and how I felt about it. It could be good to talk to someone or journal, if you feel like these would be helpful to ease your distress. Otherwise, would you feel comfortable having a chat to a GP or therapist about your nightmares? They may be able to offer some professional advice.
Another thing I'll often do before bed is listen to or watch ASMR/relaxing videos, and I don't usually have nightmares on the nights that I do this. They can be really comforting, if you haven't seen any and would be open to giving them a go.
I hope this helps, and please feel free to keep chatting with us if you'd like to. We're here for you, and happy to listen if you have more to say.
Take care, SB

- sbella02, Thanks for your advice. It was helpful. My dreams seem to have improved for the time being. If the bad dreams return I will try to identify what caused the dreams, as you suggested.
