THAT DAMN PLEBISITE

Grazee

I was angry to read that the same sex marriage Plebiscite was going to be held early next year. Even if it's passed being a Plebiscite doesn't make it law. What I'm concerned about is it NOT being passed. We all know the history of Australian Referendums . . . the NO vote usually wins. So does a NO vote mean that Gay Marriage will NEVER be accepted in Australia. I suspect that we , I mean we, have more to lose by this vote; even if passed it won't be legal and if rejected we will never have Gay Marriage legalized.

I don't know whether to vote YES ; vote in formal as a protest ; or just not vote at all. Anybody got some ideas??

Hey Jeb, MsPurple. Agreed. Books back on shelves.

I think the vote in parliament is simply called a conscience vote. That term makes me giggle.

I reckon if we were to place all descriptive argument aside and settle on "equality" we'd probably be pretty close to an all-defining word.

Sad part being that some politicians think it's still 1950, others, 1920. Perhaps it's not out nation that needs to grow up, but our politicians.

Hey guys;

1st I apologise for my last post...sigh... Embarrassed yes much. My evil personality kicked in.

Religion and politics... lively crowd! Love it!

Just as a point of interest; the holy scripts are kept at the Vatican under lock and key. What we see in print are interpretations from monks who, well, took some creative license with their writings. (and beautiful artwork)

In 1969 the Vatican admitted Mary Magdalene wasn't a prostitute after all, she was a woman of ($) means. Just as bad in those days I suppose.

They've also admitted there've been whole books and sections omitted from the new age bible that don't suit the modern day fraternity.

In the bible a man could marry a 12 yr old girl. (I can hear the religious factions yelling; "Oh but that's just the old testament!") Any bodily secretion including ejaculation and menstruation was a sin! 'We are all born of sin'

I'm also wondering has there been a Gallop Pole on Same Sex Marriage and if so, the outcome? I know polly's say they don't mean anything, but they pay for them!

Soon as I get off here I'm writing to my federal and state members...should be colourful! A rainbow I'd say lol

Cheers...Dizzy x

When you look at the polling, around 62% to 68% agree that gay marriage should be legalized. It then begs the question 'why must we have a plebiscite?' Could it be that the right wing nutters in the Conservative party, knowing that referendums and Plebiscites are usually resolved in the negative, want to use this for their own bigoted beliefs! I think so.

I maintain that existing marriage laws are not about two people loving each other, but rather to make breeding legal. So now that we're over-breeding the planet, it's time to have a new approach, a simple approach; let people in love who want to make a life-long commitment . . . . do so.
