Seeking domestic violence resources in Melbourne

Hi there,

I am a young female feeling so lost after being on the receiving end of violence from my now ex partner 18 months ago. I have seen a counselor for many months, but wondering if anyone can recommend some sort of support group, or someone I can talk to that's specialized?

I and would love to chat to people who have gone through similar events

thank you

hello Lil_b, it makes me sad when people have been in an abusive relationship and from what you have said is that your counselling isn't doing what it's intended to do.
You may have done this but google 'list of support groups for abusive relationships' as well as 'list of online support groups for abusive relationships'.
Who you can also contact is Reachout and/or Headspace, plus you could ring the Beyond Blue phone number.
I just want to know if you are safe and not being harassed by your ex, and whether or not you have got all your possessions out of the house/flat.
I hope to hear back from you. Geoff.

Hi Lil_b

Although I cant help you with resources in Melbourne as I live in Queensland.

I am 27 and spent 8 years in a very violent relationship and have been out of it a year now, I still suffer from post traumatic nightmares as well as physical issues because of it.

Always here if you need someone to talk to any time

Hi Lil B

Thanks for the reply : ) I'm glad to hear that you're safe : )

It definitely can be tough even after the relationship is over but things definitely do get better.

Surrounding yourself with supportive people whether it be friends, family, here on BB or a health care professional is definitely the key to moving forward from the trauma of a violent relationship.

Here any time you need : )
