Hi, Im 24 & recieve a side income which i can live on with some frugality & minimalism, now i dont wanna metion what it is, however I did have many jobs thruout the past several years, & based on the interactions & burdency of having to keep a job nowadays & the toxicity youre forced to face on a daily basis just doesnt seems worth it & a waste of time, why can't we just do the things we enjoy without being judged or peer pressured to be like everybody else, oh you gotta get i high salary in order to be respected, you gotta be a doctor or a lieutenant for status purposes because if you dont society's gonna look down & sigh at you, the truth is i just dont care about any of that stuff i just wanna be me but for some reason when you live in a world full of dictatorship & gerontocracy its hopeless, when the majority can't stand the life they gotta live what else are they gonna do, our leaders dont give a dam, why would anybody wanna reproduce anyone to this fast paced dog eat dog atrophy reality.

For example, rent & buying a home nowadays is out of the question, unless you wanna get approved for a loan which is gonna make you a slave to it eventually, utilities just keeps getting higher & higher where youre wages stay stagnant, if i were to tell my boss that im leaving under specific reasons they'll all of a sudden decide to give a raise, kinda cheeky is it, because corporations clearly dont give a dam about their employees no matter what they spew about how we're family, we're respectful to one another, we're a top establishment, everybodys happy to be here because a few personals said so yada yada yada.

  • Then you got to put on a fake persona not because you want to but you have to, we're all forced into a realm that expects from us & to live up to the expectations created by plutocrats & oligarchs when deep down everybody's trying to not get fired & end up on the streets, i mean why else would they be doing what they're doing.

I just wanna be me & thats all, I dont ask much, & I never needed to begin with, the only issue is if I continue with traditional employment for a long period of time, I can end up forfeiting that payment & might not get it back, if you were in this position like me with the pressure of joining with the traditional side of life with cons of being stressed out & unhappy all the time versus living freely by your own means even if im not getting much, but at peace & away from the drama that man kind had put upon themselves?

Thanks

Hi, welcome

Just a mention- I'm retired now, had over 90 jobs and 15 professions that included RAAF, prison officer, security, railways, investigations, and running my own business for 18 years. I had so many jobs as I was manic and undiagnosed till 2009. But what is relevant was in my early 20's I made 5 attempts at riding my MC into the mountains to eventually abandon my bike and remain away from society. It didnt work and I returned. On my way back from the last ride I wondered if I could find a half way point, a home between city and country. Eventually I found a home commutable then moved further out which was cheaper and did it again. Eventually I built 2 houses my last one We're in now at 64yo. That was a challenge.

So my perception with work, society, city people and unnatural surroundings resulted in anxiety and depression. But I also had bipolar and likely under the autism spectrum high functioning.

Your views reflected my past but something big changed me at 26yo. In fact it took 30 minutes in a motivational lecture. From then on I was going to rule my world and take charge. It was no longer appropriate to be angry at a society and work places that treated me poorly. That was futile, it was time to be positive no matter the challenge ahead.

Your views on owing your own home is correct, the Govt and housing rises make it near impossible. If you rent it is beyond that. So you must find a way to overcome, and you can, but of course it takes radical ideas that the general population your age wont consider. That includes- finding work 2-4 hours away from a city (if you live in one). Renting/buying a camper van or caravan to live in. A must is a reliable and economical diesel car. Save up enough to buy land or a old house thats livable. Three things will happen- you'll have low rent costs/caravan campervan costs, low purchase prices for a house and you'll save money. The cons are - away from family and friends.

When I move the 2nd time further out I soon picked up farm work then form work for a concreter. Then I got security work at an Army base. It worked out well.

Of course I dont have all the answers. But your motivation is there only hidden away waiting for the spark to get moving.

I hope that helps. Fell free to reply and ask questions. I'm here daily

Hi, thanks for responding,

No disrespect to you i know youre trying to help & i appreciate that, but we are in the 21st century in the middle of high inflation & high cost of living with little dwellings to go around due to high immigration which im not against by the way, & high capacity of numbness due to the pressure & manipulation youre forced to go thru, unless you have the right people around you who could hook you up & help start you're own vendor then we're talking, but not everyone can endure the same amount of tension, thats why you got young ones still living at home which are also looked down upon which leads to suicide & aggravation & low self esteem because they assumed to be lazy, are they or just don't want to participate in a fools game, telling somebody to just be positive is like putting a small bandage over a big wound, i have watched motivational videos in the past & the way I see it is like getting a dopamine rush until that effect runs out, happiness doesnt last forever, it comes & goes & the older I get the more rarer it becomes, I mean getting in bed & "you know" doing it just for a good feeling that hardly lasts doesnt seem worth the risk to me, then you end up bringing somebody here & say to yourself that oh it just happend, which i disagree with, there are people in singapore for example who only get pregnant just to end up selling their infants to foster parents, sounds quite alarming right.

See imposing to just be happy on others can have its risk & cause imploding as you never know how they're gonna turn out in life, im not saying its wrong, I wish I could be happy all the time but its just not that simple in this day & era, I haven't been happy for as long as I could remember as being stuck in survival mode for a long period of time does stuff to you where it leaves me to not get my hopes too high, its a ficous cycle.

Having to look at living in a campervan or a RV, nobody should have to look at doing something like that unless as a last resort which i have done by the way, everybody should be entitled to their own dwelling without the fuss of being told you gotta earn your keep when, you specifically never asked to be here, & now all of a sudden im expected to act as a good role model citizen in a world i never asked be part of by giving up my time for a bunch of machiavellian's that get to enjoy what ever they like, yea call it jealously but its the truth, its like living back in the medieval times where peasants traded for land & protection, have things really changed that much or has it been manufactured alot more, just like with longer debts.

I just dont get why I gotta be here & participate full of disrespect, lack of manners, self righteousness etc, i can only take so much before my mind starts to shut down.

Hello

My thought is it is not possible to be happy all the time. I feel it is more important to have purpose and feel that life has meaning.

A key part of that, at least for me, is identifying what sort of work you think you would like to do. I do know though it is hard to think big picture when you are focused on surviving day to day.

If you are feeling stuck in a place you don’t want to be, it could be worth speaking to a trusted person about how to improve your situation. Could you do a course that interests you and allows you to do more meaningful work? Are you doing exercise for mental health? Are there community activities you would like to be engaged in? Considering these matters is easier said than done when you are feeling depressed, I know.

If you think you are feeling burnt out and depressed, it may be useful to see a GP to see if there is any medication to help you feel better. They can also give you a mental health plan to enable you to get access to a psychologist on a more affordable basis.

Getting back to your original post, I would prefer to do more meaningful work in a less stressful environment for less pay, than work in a high pressure, high stress environment for high pay. I am prioritising my mental health, but there are obviously sacrifices in making these decisions. You can only do what is right for you. Wishing you all the best
