Looking for out of home care survivors

Hi, I am a 38 yr old woman and I want to find people who grew up in care. Where you removed from your family by D.O.C.S. I can't speak for other people but I know my years in foster care where traumatic,harrowing and lonely. I lived through numerous abuses and then at 18 it was see ya, the department gave a small amount of help but for the most part I was all alone. Do you have something to share or even a compassionate ear to listen to your story. Please post and share what you experienced,good or bad.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the post. I am sorry it has taken a while to repl but this can happen . Your post is interesting and valued and now is have replied more people will see it.

I have not personally been in foster care but I had foster children staying with my fami,y as we grew up. They were lucky to be with our family but the older sister was not allowed as she was older than my brother. This was in the 1950s and I am sure things have changed.

The sister never had a kind foster family and she had an unhappy life.

I am so sorry you experienced trauma and abuse in your foster experience. I know that is the experience of many. I am glad my parents were able to provide a safe home.
