Hi everyone,
After the heartbreaking events at Bondi Beach on Sunday night, we know many people in our community may be feeling shaken, distressed, or unsure how to make sense of what has happened. Religious and political violence has no place is Australia and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the individuals and families affected by this tragedy.
We wanted to create a space where you can share whatever you’re feeling - whether that’s fear, shock, grief, or anything else that has come up for you. If you need support from others in the community, please feel welcome to post here.
Violence and acts of terror can bring feelings of shock, grief, profound sadness, anger and fear. It’s normal to experience these emotions while trying to make sense of distressing events. It may take time for these feelings to ease, but it’s never too early to seek support if you are feeling distressed. Beyond Blue is here for you anytime, by phone on 1300 224 636 or via webchat:

You can also support those around you by being available to them and listening.
Thank you for being such an important part of this community, and for the kindness, honesty, and wisdom you continue to share with each other. We remind the community that Beyond Blue is here for all people in Australia, no matter what you believe, how you live or who you worship.
Kind regards
Sophie M

Thank you for making this post. I live in melbourne and I’m jewish. I’m very numb today, I was up most of the night watching the coverage on abc news.

I completely agree, what happened was truly truly horrific and violence should never be encouraged nor tolerated anywhere. During this time it is so important for us to be connected and check up on loved ones during such a distressing time. Sending my prayers for those who were and continue to be affected, and thank you for making this post, acknowledging the severity of what has occurred. ❤️❤️

Dear All~
I'd like to join others to say to the Jewish Community that while there are some small number who are motivated by hate one only has to look at the response by ordinary Australians, Surf Life Volunteers, Fire, Ambulance and Police -as well as two outstanding members of the general public - who all flocked to give what assistance they could.
It is simply sad that the radicalized few can do so much damage, let us hope that the genuine wishes of the population and politicians can repair it. Religious and political violence has no place is Australia.
My thoughts are with all those who have been hurt, and those that responded. You are all very welcome here.

My first reaction was disbelief that this could happen….no words could ever express just how much grief and sadness is in Australia and around the world right now….
My heart, love, thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who lost family and friends and have been effected by this devastating act of violence…

My friend told me about this just as the news was breaking. He is a theatre nurse at one of the big hospitals in Sydney.
Now, I really have no appropriate or adequate words to describe how I feel. Horrified. Sad. Angry.
I am also humbled and proud. The amount of bravery and care shown by many there that day was off the charts. I have seen many videos of many people, doing incredible things.
To everyone affected, I am so sorry. You are all in my thoughts.
Big hugs to Sydney from Perth. ❤️
