How to determine if past events did happen?

Hello, how is everyone? Hope you all are well.
Currently, I am remembering some events from the past, however, I cannot confirm if it did or did not happen. Unfortunately, I have nobody I could verify with. Is there some form of effective therapy to determine if something did happen the way it happened?
This is just my individual personal experience, and the things I remembered could perhaps have happened. Also, my apologies but I can't disclose what this is about but it is definitely a matter of did it or didn't it happen.
Thank you so much and I hope you all have a nice day.

Hi whenwewereyoung and warm welcome to our forums
It's good you've found your way to our supportive and caring community. There's no pressure for you to disclose anything you don't want to. So no need for you to apologise. You are safe here.
You've asked a very good question and it's one I've asked myself over and over again. Those flashes of past events, or as I see them - photos really. Over the past 10 years I've had a lot of different forms of therapy. None of which could conclusively confirm or deny the flashes I was having. Not being able to confirm this has been a big source of anxiety for me. It's left me feeling guilty, ashamed, angry and crazy. Can you relate to any of these feelings?
With the help of one of my psychologists I had to either accept or reject these flashes. Her thoughts were - why on earth would I create such a horrible, elaborate and terrifying story about what happened.
So, I chose to accept my memories and to work through these. One by one until they became a video. It was a terrifying experience and one I don't wish to ever repeat. It took many years of piecing together the fragments (pictures). The thing I'm left with is I never saw a picture of how I got home. I created one (I had too) that was possible.
The trauma caused the amensia and fragmentation of my memory. The paths in my brainwaves (neurotransmitters) are healing and creating new pathways to help recover. I did this with the work of my psychologists using different methods - not just one single therapy. Over the years I've been given lots of tools to help manage my fragmented mind, feelings and emotions.
How are you feeling about not knowing whether the events in your life are true or not? No pressure to share if you don't want to.
Kind regards
PamelaR

Hello Pamela, thank you so much for your thoughtful and insightful reply. I wish I could be more open-minded about my memories and maybe in the future I will be. However, I would like to be completely honest and straightforward that at the moment I do very much want to know if my past memories actually happened or not. Is there any way you could help me with that? Sorry again for the trouble.

Hi whenwewereyoung
My sister had a similar problem where she remembered certain events but couldn't say if they were bad dreams or reality, unfortunately for both of us it was a reality. I've found as I've started dealing with my own issues more memories have arisen. I would recommend seeing a professional as when my memories flooded back I went to avery bad place very quickly.
Not sure if this has helped, I wish you the best

Hi Whenwewereyoung
Sorry it's taken so long to respond; Life happens.
Again, I'm sorry because I can't tell you whether your past memories actually happened or not. Are you able to say what the urgency is for finding out?

Hi WWWY,
Pamala is absolutely right - no 1 can tell you if your past memories actually occurred or not. Additionally, any psychologist/mental health professional will see it as a red flag - that you want their help in finding out.
I can understand not wanting to believe that these things happened to you - it’s denial pure and simple.
To echo Pamala - what’s the urgency?
Regards
