Hi all,
I thought it would be a good idea for us to have a thread where we share special and discuss celebrations from different culture(s).
It would be great to learn from (and celebrate with) one another.
People from all cultural backgrounds are welcome 🙂
So anything from Christmas to Hannukah to Children’s Day in Japan to many others of course 🙂
I would like to start by saying:
Today is the lunar new year 🙂 It’s the year of the Dog.
Happy lunar new year to all who our Chinese, Chinese-Australian or Australian (and anyone else too) who celebrates this important day.
Wishing everyone health, love and kindness.
Pepper xoxo

Thank you Pepper,
Happy Harmony Day!
It’s beautiful to see that cultural diversity is celebrated and encouraged at all levels of society. Australia is such a lovely microcosm representing global harmonious living with more than 200 ethnicities and 135 religions, and of course hundreds of indigenous nations and languages.
We can be truly proud for so many amazing aspects of cohesiveness and harmony in living together in this continent that has accepted us and we call it home.
Indeed, I’m proud to be an Australian. X

Hi Donte’ (waves to all),
I like your point about listening to different opinions 🙂
In particular, I appreciate your point about considering multiple perspectives before coming to our own conclusions. That’s how I’ve often approached things in life (or with things that are personally important to me anyway).
Thanks Donte’!

Hi James and a wave to Pepper too,
Ah mooncakes ❤
A lifetime ago I was introduced to them at work. We used to see so many in their gorgeous tins and the beautiful stamped patterns on the pastry. Worst of all for a very long time they weren't allowed in to Aust if they had egg yolks or so we had to cut them. It felt so awful.
I always found the traditions of other cultures so beautiful and interesting. I loved the red envelopes which we had to ask to be shown (cash was no drama but the fresh foliage added inside was). And the inevitable fresh mandarins at this time of year.
Part of me wishes I could have asked more about all the different cultures at the time. But time never permitted and I was working.
Which mooncakes are your favourite James?
