NEED HELP

I’m an international student and currently living with my auntie (legal guardian) and I am working. She keeps my credit card and I secretly have an access on my phone (because she said I might lost my card and I might spend a lot of MY money). She found out about this because she forced me to open my bank statements online and destroy my phone and she said she will report me to the police (I don’t know why) and tell the embassy to cancel my student visa and send me back home.

Hello Himecchi,

And a warm welcome to this forum where we share experiences as people born overseas and/or families and children of migrants.

I am sorry to hear about your financial abuse situation from your auntie and the implications this has on your social, financial, emotional, mental state.

It’s such a shame when families abuse each other and try to control other members.

Unfortunately, most abuse takes place at home and from people we love and trust.

Are you a minor?

Your auntie’s intentions may be good. She truly could try to help you or protect you. She may have your best interests in mind. However, abuse can also be unintentional.

Is there someone at your college you can talk to? Student services? Counselor?

Are you able to chat to a counselor here online? This site offers private one-on-one counseling and support which is confidential and anonymous.

Have you tried contacting them?
