This bipolar life

Are your moods are like an elevator with no control buttons? Mine are.

Ground floor ... I feel normal, content, just quietly getting on with ordinary, everyday life, loving my family and friends. This is as it should be. And maybe there's nothing wrong with me after all. Live.

Going up, top floor. Oh look! There's a shiny thing! I want to sing! Let's go buy stuff! Let's have a big party and invite the world! What could possibly go wrong! Woooooo hoooooooo! Play.

Going up (a different day) top floor. What do you mean you don't agree with me! I'm right! Why don't you think like me? Keep up! How can you be so illogical? I'll f-ing shred you if you don't do what I want! Rage.

Going down, lower ground floor. Flat, listless, can't be bothered. Can still function but it's a drag. Cope

Going down, basement. I'm never getting out of bed again. I'm useless, worthless. Total idiot, how could I ever imagine I could do anything, nothing ever goes right because I'm wrong. I'm a burden to everyone. Hide.

Welcome to my bipolar world. It's always been my world, but it's only recently I've seen it for what it is. About 15 years ago I was diagnosed with clinical depression during one of my 'basement' times. I had a lot of lower ground floor times too, on and off, and I kept out of the basement (so I thought) with alcohol. Until that took me into the blackest ever basement with only one obvious way out. Having survived doing something very dangerous I realised I had to stop drinking or I really would die.

I never took much notice of the playful times or the anger, that was just me, I was fun sometimes, and sometimes I was a devastating bitch. Ha! Deal with it people!

Well, yes, but in time the elevator started going up and down too quickly and, as I became more aware and more knowledgeable about mental health I realised this wasn't good. Doctor. Diagnosis. Bipolar 2. Lithium.

So, I've started this thread in the hope that other bipolar folks will join me, to share experiences and strategies. In my 'beginners' understanding, we are different from other fellow travellers of the back dog. While we experience depression as many others on this site do, the hypomanic or manic ups and, for some the rapid cycling that can happen, are experiences unto themselves.

I want to learn more, and I want to share with others. I hope my fellow elevators will join me here.
BTW, it's a ground floor day in my head today! Yay!

Love

Hi All...have been reading everyone's posts.

Asdff I hope you're feeling better.

Velvet good on you for sticking up for yourself.

Am off to Bali on Saturday for 7 days. Hope everyone else is going ok 🙂

Ah a holiday in a warm climate. I'm jealous. Doubt I ever afford to have a holiday again the way the ecconomy going.

I have respiratory germs. Home today. Been taking rats since Monday when it first started. Today i feel sooooooo rubbish. All negative so far. Going for pcr. I have had 4 close confirmed contacts the last 5 to 10 days. If it's not, I'll laugh. It seems ridiculous now.

I just can't get warm no matter what I've done for 12hrs. I'll think of Bali. 😊

Velvet I hope you feel better. At some stage everybody will have had covid.

Asdff, No judgement from this end whatsoever.Doing the journal brings back memories.
Lisa, we’re off to Bali in mid August. Enjoy yourself and looking forward to your feedback. Have been many times. I like the warmer weather but am enjoying bike rides across trails in 10-12 degree weather.

Velvet I don’t think there’s anyone that hasn’t been affected by COVID.Look after yourself, you’re number 1 .Lots of germies, nasty flu, colds and the dreaded COVID,

Quirky, how are you doing? Hope you are well

Lisa, have a great time in Bali. I wish I was going somewhere warm. Like Velvet has said it’s cold in our State. V, I hope your recover quickly. Let us know if it’s the unwelcome visitor rona.

Thanks Airies. I do feel at ease here and I can share how I feel to a degree. I like exercising in the cooler weather. It’s mainly been the gym lately.

Quirky, how’s things? Leisa, I hope you are reading along.

Yet hardly anyone got H1N1 back 12 years ago. I got that one. I collect pandemics ahahah.

I'll let you all know. Hehe.

Been trying to run financial sums. Probably not smart being down with a sickness. Nothing bad just looking into a few smart moves.

This place is a safe space for the majority of sharing. No judgement here.

V one thing you have never lost is your sense of humour. Guess we all use it to mask our illness. I’m quit witted but NQ appropriate more often then not. No harm in planning for the future. My better half manages all our finances. Me , I just buy stuff.Sometimes I share to much but feel safe here. I really can’t be bothered with a few friends . A simple catch up requires upteen emails , miss read dates and a logistical nightmare. All I want is things simplified. A former work colleague, a close friend snubbed me at the Supermarket.I just don’t care. Thankfully this place here and other people from outside my former employment. Time to look forward rather then dwell on the past.

Hello to everyone,

I like keeping up to date with everyone.

Leisa I hope you are ok,

Aries I am too jealous of a warm holiday.

V I like the way you keep on keeping on.
Asdff you are such a kind soul and you also keep going determined.m

Lisa thanks for your posts.

Sense of humour helps me and helps others. Diffuse with humour. Have to laugh.

No corona. Not going to work again. Not working out their staffing either. Not stepping up. Not going above and beyond for people who get paid 30k a year more than me and take advantage of my initiative.

No over time for me. Oh well. I don't rely on it. I've managed so far. I'm a single income home on a low income. Many of them have never gone without a thing and it shows. Entitled spoilt brats. With the pending ecconomic crash, God help us all!!!

Today I will watch some old classic comedies. Hope to get some sunshine in the yard with the pooch. He's annoyed at me. Why am I home and not taking him walkies!!! Er because I'll pass out mate!!

I don't put in extra work anymore with friends either Airies. If it's up to me to maintain the friendship 100% you better believe I won't be!!

I'll pop in later and see y'all.

V

I like classic British comedies and funny Uk panel shows.
They relax me.
