This bipolar life

Are your moods are like an elevator with no control buttons? Mine are.

Ground floor ... I feel normal, content, just quietly getting on with ordinary, everyday life, loving my family and friends. This is as it should be. And maybe there's nothing wrong with me after all. Live.

Going up, top floor. Oh look! There's a shiny thing! I want to sing! Let's go buy stuff! Let's have a big party and invite the world! What could possibly go wrong! Woooooo hoooooooo! Play.

Going up (a different day) top floor. What do you mean you don't agree with me! I'm right! Why don't you think like me? Keep up! How can you be so illogical? I'll f-ing shred you if you don't do what I want! Rage.

Going down, lower ground floor. Flat, listless, can't be bothered. Can still function but it's a drag. Cope

Going down, basement. I'm never getting out of bed again. I'm useless, worthless. Total idiot, how could I ever imagine I could do anything, nothing ever goes right because I'm wrong. I'm a burden to everyone. Hide.

Welcome to my bipolar world. It's always been my world, but it's only recently I've seen it for what it is. About 15 years ago I was diagnosed with clinical depression during one of my 'basement' times. I had a lot of lower ground floor times too, on and off, and I kept out of the basement (so I thought) with alcohol. Until that took me into the blackest ever basement with only one obvious way out. Having survived doing something very dangerous I realised I had to stop drinking or I really would die.

I never took much notice of the playful times or the anger, that was just me, I was fun sometimes, and sometimes I was a devastating bitch. Ha! Deal with it people!

Well, yes, but in time the elevator started going up and down too quickly and, as I became more aware and more knowledgeable about mental health I realised this wasn't good. Doctor. Diagnosis. Bipolar 2. Lithium.

So, I've started this thread in the hope that other bipolar folks will join me, to share experiences and strategies. In my 'beginners' understanding, we are different from other fellow travellers of the back dog. While we experience depression as many others on this site do, the hypomanic or manic ups and, for some the rapid cycling that can happen, are experiences unto themselves.

I want to learn more, and I want to share with others. I hope my fellow elevators will join me here.
BTW, it's a ground floor day in my head today! Yay!

Love

longlisted means you are not in the short list say ten to 20 but are in the longlis of say 40 to 50 out of 400. Just guessing.

asdff thanks.

Oh wow I missed that! GO QUIRKY ! 😄 This is super cool. I hope you get published!

A blog? I was told I should write a blog. URGH effort. I think all of us have endured so much "life"...... We have packed centuries of life and eperience into our short times on earth, thus far.

I got a big sleep last night. I think I am still a little under the weather from ths cold I had. The latent morning boogers and stuff.

It began. Man things child we see, and who is now in high school, and has been used by her mother etc etc... has started acting out! Could see it coming a mile away. With the crap between her parents, all her life and being the spare kid that mother CBF with ..... she has decided to lash out.

I started at the same age.......... being angry due to parent issues. OH how this isso familiar.

V.

Velvet

can you give insight information into man things child to help him understand why his child is acting the way she is.

Quirky if would be great to see you get published. Velvet says it so well. We've packed in so much. So much more then normal people. Look how much we pack into a single day, woke up at 8:00. Not the norm for me walked, gardened and then cycled . Cycled 3 days in a row. No amount of chamois cream can make up for my sore backside.Lots of weight perched on a small seat. Anyway I'm the one eating chocolate etc etc . Tomorows another day.

Asdff I wish I had your control re food, Tim tams. I'm sure my is related to my meds. Something I will address one way or another. Apart from a sore butt my Achilles is still giving me grief. A sign of getting old. Looking forward to having a frank discussion with my psych. She doesn't BS and I've got lots to thank her for. We've got some colder weather coming tomorow but we need the rain, be kind to yourselves folks,

cheers

Hello all

Aries smiled about the cream and your backside.,

I could never find a bicycle seat comfortable enough for me. Tried every type and gave up..

zdo others have a tendency to be a people pleaser, I never knew it was a bad thing until a few years ago I thought everyone tried to pay please other people.

I find it hard to tell people what I want because I’m afraid little upset other people.
Not sure if anyone else can relate to that.

since covid and fires I eat too many biscuits and less exercise I keep saying I will stop eating biscuits soon but it does not happen !

Yeh I've given some insight from my perspective.

Currently waiting to see surgeons. When tired and stressed I get abscesses. Heh. YAY NOT.

dang things hurt.

Hi folks, Cranky and moody at a drop of a hat. On our morning walk a cyclist went past in jeans. Well they were half way down his ass. Biggest and ugliest plumbers crack ever. Wife says that's a first. You'd think his mate would of told him..... Yuck yuck. Btw I'm not into backsides given my latest posts. I've been feel really lightheaded of late. Pulled out my blood preasure monitor. All good. Strangest feeling , like vertigo ...anyway far worse sceanarios. See my psych in a few weeks. Hope all are doing ok with the rollercoaster ride we've been facing . Take care cheers

Does doing things make you tired? Like general things; going to appointments, food shopping, school pick ups. I find the more things I have on. The worse my mood is. I know stress is a trigger for my moods, so I try and keep things simple. Do as little as possible. I see others like my husband, who has a professional job. I always juggling projects, work problems. All day everyday. Yes, he gets stressed but doesn’t have a meltdown. Stupid bipolar. It’s like having your mind play tricks on you. I wish, I could put a helmet on and it would make me not have a mood disorder. To let me lead a “normal” life. Not get stressed out easily. Carry out a job. My Mum says I am my husbands cheerleader and really I am. There is no way he could do what he does if I wasn’t here, pulling the unpaid work duties. thanks for letting me rant. Now to catch up on your lives.

asdff there was a line from the 1960s or 1970s where a woman said all she needed was a wife.

I think all the work you do unpaid would be more tiring that working full time.

I used to work 7 days a week with few days away and now with 2 days at an op shop I am exhausted all the time.!!!

Velvet so about the abcess ouch how awful.

Aries I had vertigo last year and it was horrible and scary.

Quirky, I was being a smart arse about short and long list. We are proud of you. No matter if you are too 40 or to0 400. To us, you are top!! Also my Mother uses that movie line. I should Google and find out the movie.

Airies sometimes the food control thing can be an issue. I did have an eating disorder during uni. I would only eat “healthy” foods. So I lost lots of weight. When long term relationship ended. I turned to chocolate and I’ve eaten more balanced diet since. I can say no to ice cream and chocolate. Not lollies. I am a lowly lover.

Velvet, ouch. Where is this abscess? I wouldn’t mind seeing it drained. Yes, I could be a medical professional in another life.

Red velvet where are you? Probably busy with study.
