Hi Essen;
I'm not too great this morning either, but you need support and sense in your life. I'm still here ok.
The thing about mindfulness is obviously to be in the moment, but for survivors of SA, it means so much more. 'That' moment when you focus on squeezing your hands or rubbing your arms, is 'safety'.
"No-one can hurt me right now, on this spot and in my personal space. Look around the room, not one person's there to harm me. I have complete power over this one moment."
It's about training your brain hun. It takes practice and courage to face one moment of empowerment, because it feels so foreign. When you came home from hospital, the safety of being there was broken by 'life' in your home.
Rising above this to just be in your body and in the present, is really important. Allow others to talk; watch their mouths moving without listening to the words. Make a game out of it.
I know there's a lot going on, but what can be achieved in any given moment? Nothing except breathing and being. All the rest is outside of your space and you have no control over it. Isn't that a freeing thought?
It means you're off the hook. You can't 'do' anything to change people or events. So sitting in a chair looking at the blue sky, listening to birds and taking in smells etc, is one moment of peace...just one.
That moment for me was my wake up call. If I could accomplish one moment, then I could do more. That's how my true sense of recovery began, and it can for you too. What I did was lower my adrenaline and cortisol levels; that's physical recovery too.
When something gets on top of you, ask yourself; "Is there anything I can do to change this at this moment in time?" The answer is usually "NO". That's relief and peace; you get to just sit in your body without any disruptions. Don't be afraid of it, just do it.
I hope your psych visit went well.
Take care...

Hi SN,
I'm sorry to hear about the results from your recent appointment. It sounds like that's really been tough to cope with. I have BPD and I can see that's really shocked you and made everything else also seem so much more difficult.
If you do have any questions about it, please feel free to ask and I can let you know what my own experiences have been.
In the meantime, I'm glad to hear you are still trying to do the exercises your counsellor tells you and the art. These things may feel little and insignificant, but we can also see that you're really trying to find your way through and we want to keep talking to you here.

The mental health team are there for you. Call and tell them how you feel. Ask for help from those who can support you...please.
What happened in therapy? Did it go ok?
We're here Essen...

i feel like im wasteing everyones time Sara. i dont deserve to be here, i want to be here but i dont deserve this support. everyone here is too kind.
im a bad spirit and i dont know how to change that.
the therapy went ok, she seems to know what shes talking about. im trying to get in to see her weekly its just about to cost me a heap as my mental health care plan can be renewed until next year and this therapist does do it another way but its still 80 each session so its 160 a fortnight.
im trying, i am but im not getting anywhere. everytime i try to make a baby step it fails on me. what sort of person can fail at everything they do! me obviously.
i cant keep going like this. i dotn know what more i can do.

Remember when we discussed success and what that meant? It's baby steps. Each little achievement adds up eventually to create positive changes. Reminding yourself how far you've come will build your spirits Essen.
I know what it's like to feel down all the time, but we push thru it. I haven't read how you're down on yourself for not being 'deserving' for a long while now. What's bought this on?
I'm glad your psych's a keeper hun, even though the cost's high. It's a plus for sure. 🙂
About the 'doing' you speak of; it's 'being' that's important too. Learning to just 'be' without feeling like a fish out of water. That's where we find some peace.
Keep up the good work, you're going famously. 🙂

In responses to
before:
my dear Sara
im sorry your
not doing great. Being on this thread wouldnt be easy for you to be
here and I understand if your not here or cant be here.
Its frustrating
because ive been trying to train my brain that im 'safe' now and I
dont have to worry but my brain and bodies response tells me
otherwise.
I dont know how to
reduce my adrenaline or cortisol levels.
Im on
anti-depressant, sleeping tablets and a PRN plus ill be going onto a
mood sabiliser. That would a big help- I was on mood stabilisers
before and it was helping me but im not on them now.
I know its baby
steps, im taking smaller than baby steps and Im still not getting
anywhere and constantly failing at everything. Its frustrating and
upsetting.
Ive been pushing
through so much already and I just cant seem to get out of anything
anymore. Ive even lost my enjoyment for horses and im sure you know
how much they meant to me. At this point in time though its the last
thing I want to do and the last palce I want to be.
Whats brought theses
feelings on is the constant reminders of my past, the fact that I
cant cope with anything. I cant even walk outside anymore. My
paranoia got to the point I was ringing helplines thinking people
were following me and I was unsaffe.
Getting 5 mental
health diagnoses, 3 health diagnoses that will stay with me and
trying to sit on the edge of keeping it together with this hpv. I
cannot clear my mind about it, and its still scaring the shite outta
me. I even asked my gp if it was possible to tak everything out so
theres no chance of it progressing. Ive dont something in this life
to be abused and witnessing things like DV and other traumas. I have
no other explaination for it. How can I just ge unfortunate in all
these things.
I feel like a
pathetic looser who is wasting peoples times because im deservingof
nothing but bad things and underserving of the good.

thank you for your
response. Yes BPD was a hard diagnoses to come by. Ive realsied it
matches my some of my other symptoms that werent matching anything
else. So good to know that bit. I figure I cant change it so I have
to accept it now.
I wonder does this disorder progress? Or is there a chance it can be reversed and I wont have it anymore
