Lockdown started at 11:59 last night.
Doesn’t quite feel lockdowny yet... Maybe because we’ve done it before, and to be honest we still had kind of strict restrictions so not much has really changed. Disappointing for H and her work, nice to have her home but they just reopened, small business, they will find it really tough second time around, I hope they can pull through. The novelty of Zoom has worn off for both our clients and teams.
W still sits with me while I work sometimes though. He will sit on the desk or on my lap with a toy if I’m not in meetings, or if I’m in meetings he’ll scream at the door for me to let him in. Trying to spend the less concentraty time of my day out sitting at the table or bench with the rest of the family. We have had some horrid weather here, rain, hail it even snowed not far from us, so we haven’t been able to take him out much.
I can still make my surfboards at home, doing contact less pick up/drop off with little notes of what people think they need repaired and then I go over the board and check it myself. We can still meet out doors so for some customers we have met at the park on the other side of our street. I’m doing what I can, legally, to make sure I can actually meet with customers if they want to, especially if they are wanting a custom board made, or would like me to explain the repair process. I’m not a fan of just fixing. I want to fix and explain what I have done and maybe how the problem could have happened if they owner isn’t sure. I don’t think it’s good business to drop things and run, you should spend time explaining things to them, but that’s just me.
