Anxiety issue

Hi all,

I took abit of convincing myself to join the forums and write in here but just wanted some advice.

in the past two weeks, I have had anxiety spiralling out of control, I am unable to concentrate at work or at home, I continually think of the worst case scenario in anything, I wake up in the middle of the night having panic attacks (heart racing, in shaking, heavy breathing) I haven't slept more than 4 hours each night and during the day I am in a constant stressed state that by 2 pm I am tired as can be, I hate being alone, if I'm driving I feel the need to call someone just so I can get my mind off my anxiety and contanst worry feelings. I have lost my appetite, eating maybe one meal a day simply because I cannot eat. I have tried natural over the counter medicine to try and alleviate the anxiety and calm me down but they don't work.... Does this sound like GAD and should I see a doctor about medication?

thank you in advance for your replies.

Jay

Hi Ava,

I guess if you havent managed it, especially when you have had it for quite a while as P has then I can see how it just manifests itself and takes over. It's not good I guess his kids parent him, but they obviously see how he is as well and maybe feel the need too. It's nothing about judging i think either, you don't deal with GAD yourself so it's very hard to understand from your point of view so you almost inadvertently become an enabler. You are just trying your best to look after him and yourself. Hang in there 🙂

At least the hayfever has subsided for you, mine is rife at the moment, just running wild. I'm due for the dentist as well that you say that. Hopefully there is no pain from the work they did.

Yes, had my appointment this evening, was a good one, I went in thinking what am I going to talk about, I have nothing... low and behold the hour went by quick and I didnt shut up. Amazing how psychologist's work. Just spoke about my relationship with my wife, a lot of work to do I can tell you that.

Hi Ava,

Hehe, my aunty calls me Jaystar, was funny to hear 🙂

Much on for you and P for the weekend?

My wife went away with her girlfriends so I am on my own for the long weekend (Cup weekend here in Vic) but i'll be working mostly.

Hi Jaystar 🙂

Working on a long weekend what are you thinking? Whatever you are doing I hope you are building in some fun. I'm sure your wife is having a lovely girls weekend.

Not much happening here. Christmas decision made. P will stay here and have Christmas with his family and I will go and visit mine interstate. Not my preferred option but it will probably work out better anyway. Another win for P's family.

Hi Ava,

Didn't get much work done unfortunately, but it's ok, had quite an enjoyable weekend on my own and just caught up with some friends, while the wife was away 🙂

Sorry to hear about your Christmas plans, try and stay on the positive and that you will get to see your loving family over Christmas 🙂

My best for you,
