I'm really struggling! It feels like I cannot breathe. I lost my furbaby to cancer. Kaycee was only 6 years old and the love of my life. Everything is so hard at the moment. I keep thinking of her. I just want to sleep all the time so that I can only dream of her. I am really struggling 😫

Hi there,
I understand your grief and your loss. I can empathise with how you are feeling and I am so sorry for the passing of your soul dog.
In the early stage after the passing of a beloved furry family member, the shock sets in. It is hard to just function and that is completely valid and understandable. Fur family become our real family, and our connections with them can outweigh anything we know with other humans. And the loss is so great, because the love was and still is so great.
It is okay to be struggling. Life as you knew it has suddenly changed. That is so hard. Looking after yourself right now is the only thing you need to do. Eat one piece of toast. I know you aren’t hungry, but eat that one piece. Sleep when it is nighttime or you may be up at night. Exercise to get the adrenaline out if you can. Try to stay warm,as shock makes your body feel different from normal. Keep hydrated.
But most of all, let every emotion you are feeling out. Cry, scream into your pillow or write down your thoughts to get them out of your head.
I lost my soul cat at 3.5 years. It isn’t fair. It isn’t fair for you.
But what your post says in abundance,is that you loved Kaycee and Kaycee loved you. You did the best thing for Kaycee. You are a good dog parent.
I know it is hard. But everything you are feeling is okay and valid. Your grief is your own. Don’t allow others to minimise your grief or pain. Take as long as you need too.
Please reach out for help if you need it. Here or at your GP.
You are not alone.
Here for you if you need it,
